this is very well written, Carolyn, you did an e xcellent job writing this free verse poem about the light of love that grows dim as time passes by. I love the last two lines.

I've enjoyed this poem immensely because of its perfect rhythm and rhyme made it so easy to read and fun to understand. Your rhymes were neither forced, labored or strained in your rhythm flowed so well that it made it easy for me to read your poem clearly. The topic a context Was also fun to read that love doesn't necessarily have to fade when someone leaves it goes away but naturally just sometimes a relationship fades over time to strengthen the soul and the happiness is always still there. Thank you so much for sharing and posting your work for others. May you and yours be blessed.

This is a very apt and fitting piece of writing in this post. Unfortunately the light dims in many lovers hearts. That is just the way it goes sometimes.

this hurts: It once shined bright
with youth's delight
and this: where once the ardent
flame did glow
and all that preceeds makes this difficult: Be saddened not
embrace thy age
you speak truth to life here. Had I a six to give. . .sorry

Good eye catching photo that grabs my attention from the start. Good description that paints a clear picture in my mind. I see nothing that I would add, take out, change or adjust in this piece. Good work and thanks for sharing.

Good choice of words for your love poem. You have made good use of language and imagery and the rhyming works well. I wanted to point out a few errors-I hope you don't mind-there are a couple of apostrophe s errors (one being lover's eyes-2 times)and you used the intransitive verb shine which is 'shone' in its past tense (when transitive, then shined is ok)Most enjoyable poem. This flows so very easily within its thoughts and phrases. It is formatted just right as well. This poem has excellent vocabulary that just ignites the poetic verve that is romances it words. This was an excellent piece of poetic art to have read and responded to... John

If this is what just popped out of your head then I commend you for sharing such popping. It is written so beautifully, especially to one who has known nothing about such things, but only abuse, lust and horror. It flows like a beautiful river of crystal light and reality. God bless
