Crimes against children and animals really upset me, especially something of this nature. How can human beings do this? It is truly horrific. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

What a terrible experience! It's certainly a powerful subject for a short story. I think you could cut out quite a lot of the stuff at the start, about Molly and Anna, and perhaps restructure the story to grab the reader's attention by bringing up the subject of the rape straight away, then spending more time detailing the effect it had on the family.
It's shocking to think that there are people in the world who would do such a terrible thing, and a reminder that the repercussions are usually much worse for the victim and their family and friends than they are for the perpetrators.
