'Tis not the Bard, but pretty good poetry anyway

Hi Carolyn,

This is a great poem, written very well and interesting. I don't recall seeing a Tableau poem before when each sentence has five syllables. Sounds like fun though.

You have just proven that a poem doesn't need a lot of lines to be great. The Columbus zoo has an eagle and I think one of our parks does also.

I really enjoyed this Tableau. I especially liked Lush tall golden grass- the words are very smooth and almost sing.I find the second line a little stilted but in all you have painted a vivid picture of the eagle's flight.

This was a very nice tableau style poem, a new style to me, about an eagle. had a nice picture to accompany the poem. Good colorful and descriptive use of words.

A great image of nature in the wild grasses. I looked up Tableau on poetry dances and this style was not there, I have not heard of it,

Thunderbird soars high
Keenly peers ore plains
Lush tall golden grass
Buffalo wallows
Seen by eagles eye
Rabbits habitat

Well done. Mary

Nice passage. The most visual moment for me is "Lush tall golden grass". It gives a nice, mellow pause in the reading. That lines forces me to slow down even as I read it over again I can't get myself to read that line quickly. That's a nice touch. The last line bounces off the lips like a rabbit. Though it changes the pace a bit awkwardly it doesn't seem to distract.

Well thank you for such a through review. I am glad it made you slow down for a minute. :-) we all need that occasionally. In my minds eye, when the eagle saw the ' rab bits hab I tat... he speeds up his flight for the final swoop. (Aren't we poets silly sometimes?) so happy you enjoyed this one. Carolyn

Thank you for sharing this with myself, fans and other readers. Your conceptual topic and/or concept is particularly of freedom and of a hunting ground which is free for the tall soaring Eagles, that being rabbits. Your graphic description of this poem is done to perfection. This and including your imagery has proved to be profoundly and wisely chosen. You have a good one and God bless. I enjoyed reading your poem very much.
