Gorgeous! I have only come across two people on this site who I swear could talk in rhyme and perfect meter all day long, and you are one of them. Another delightful addition to your poetry stories, which I enjoyed tremendously. Alexis x

I love it. It is a children's poem of glee. They are so fulfilling to compose. I just wrote one for a granddaughter called 'the honeybee' and sent it to my Son. He immediately recited the last verse. I was dumbfounded. This poem made me feel like a child again!

This is a very cute story. I don't usually stick with the long poems but I stuck with this one to the ending. I enjoyed the suspense of the surprise gift. I was not disappointed one bit. A home made rocking chair would be a lovely gift. This Mummy Mouse is lucky to have a family that loves her so much!

Thank you, Joy. That is an even better review. If the words made you read it to the end when you wouldn't normally, the I think I might have done something right. Thank you!! xsx

This poem is wonderful! We are kindred spirits. We enjoy the same type of poetry. Your poem sounds like my Cat and Mouse or FOOTBALL? SERIOUSLY? I have become a Fan. I read the one where they went camping. GOOD JOB! Honeycomb

sandra,
this is great. i actually see it as a children's book. maybe add something like mummy doesn't have her own chair or not. either way ... children would love this one. imagery is excellent.

Thank you, babylonia, what a lovely review! I am always reading and re-writing parts of my Mice series, I get lots of imput from you all which is so helpful. One day perhaps I will be able to get them published but it is a very competitive market. Thank you again. xsx

it is but from what i understand the children's market is one that the editors actually read the ms versus a flunky or agent. keep trying. it would probably help if you already had illustrations.
-
I will! thank you for such wonderful encouragement! xx sandra.

sandra,
you are very welcome~

You told quite a mousy tale. I really enjoyed reading about this wonderful birthday. Wow it was very nice of these creatures to do so much for mummy. And the rhymes were great

Sandra,
How easy do the words come to you when creating your poems? This is amazing and should be a childrens' book,
Such a delightful writer you are!

I really enjoyed reading this! It almost made me wish I had kids to read it to. Almost...
The only thing I saw that bothered me is really nitpicky, but I have to mention it:
Then for breakfast we'll make her a real special treat,
That tasty strong cheese that she loves to eat.'
The word "make" here brings to my mind a picture of mice standing around in aprons making cheese from scratch.
It didn't take anything away from the story, so to speak, but it did remind me I was reading one.
Wonderful job! Can't wait to read more of your work--

Thank you, hellion, now that you have pointed that out, I think its wrong too. I am going to change it to, 'For breakfast we'll GIVE her a real special treat... What do you think? Thank you still for the lovely review, and for all those love stars, also thank you again for the help, this is what this place is all about. xsx
