This brought me to tears. So beautiful is the love and dedication. Filled me, and awakened all in the same story.
Very well penned and had great emotion held within it that flowed through me.
Thanks for sharing.

Jimi, this is an exquisitely beautiful piece of writing full of love and compassion. I wish I had a sixer for you.
"My grandmother held Ettie May close, and with each woeful wail of grief, Emma raised her head to the cold aloof clouds and sang louder, as if she was demanding the good Lord to hear her friend's grief and send comfort."
"both had instilled in me that God was not partial, that He had made man out of every tribe, nation, and tongue. To dishonor His creation was nothing short of blasphemy, and to declare you were better than anyone was to arrogantly declare that God was flawed."
Bravo, my friend. You were blessed to have such a wonderful influence in your life. Thank you for sharing.

When a writer brings tears to your eyes, makes you feel afraid, or sends love surging through your viens, then you know that they've done their job. All of those are wrapped up in this little piece, and I applaude you for it. Very nicely done.

Comment from Eleanor Buron
A beautiful story, that proves love isn't concerned with color, and love shares. In describing Ettie May's house there's the word "molded" and I think you may have meant "moldy" - not sure, but thought I'd point it out. The descriptive detail is well done and allows the reader to feel present, especially at the three significant funerals that took place in the twenty year span of the story. The writing is picturesque; it's easy to see the different settings. I enjoyed reading this very much.

So sorry for your loss. Your writing tells me you have faith from seeing, hearing and feeling the heart-warming faith that Emma had. Her love inspired you.
I hope someday one of my loved ones can say this about me. It will be the most wonderful thing I've ever done. If my life moves someone, anyone, and gives them hope and such precious memories, then I will have made a difference and been useful in life to and for someone other than myself.
To be able to have done something good for another is by far the greatest gift we can give.

Comment from Spiritual Echo
This is a beautiful sincere story and every sentence is a declaration of your love and devotion.
There is one very long run on sentence in the third paragraph you should take a second look at. Otherwise this is deeply moving.

Wish I could tell you in more elegant
words how much I took to heart your
beautifuk story. Your heart glows with
love throughout and truly warms the
heart of this old Marine.
If the world was filled with Emmas and Ettie
mays what a wonderful world it would be.
To place before yourself has been my goal
and yet I'll always be still too far to go.
