Cathy feels sorry for Nathan/Norman. But Dr. Pritchard has found many different personalities in with Nathan and Norman. He feels he can treat him. I don't think Nathan wants to be cured. He wants to resume his life.

I don't think he wants to be cured, either. That's part of the problem with DID. Those who have it usually don't mind it and the meds can make a person kinda sleepy and fuzzy, whereas without them, they can act out if they want. Very complicated disorder, for sure.

Do you mean diagnoses (more than one diagnosis) both times you use it? I wasn't sure. I think it should be 'for observation and diagnosis' The previous diagnosis/diagnoses could go either way, depending on whether or not in the past he'd been diagnosed with one or more disorders.

Hey Norma! You digging out up there/ Man, it's cold as a witch down here, but just beautiful.

Okay, diagnosis..s/b diagnoses when it's plural. I'll get in there and fix. Now, the, "So; what?" thingy. In your ear, hear someone like The Fonz...so...what? How would be the best way to show that?

I also will insert the dashes...I like 'em better than the commas (which I HATE!)

Now, the Alex-Dr. Pritchard, I wanted to use a different word, but if you think it looks better, I'll keep it to Dr.

Norma, when I finally get another thumb, you have it. Now I'm off to edit this mess! At least no 'snarles', huh?

Cold here, too, and my poor dog has the runs...(sigh) The Fonz...well, maybe "So...What?" and have him shrug. Or you could italicize the 'what' part. Just some ideas.

Ya know what I did? I wrote: "So? What?" I think that speech pattern and word choice makes the character clear. Yes?

Good grief, poor Bambi! She picked a fine time for that! My two refuse to step off the porch, which means we have little turd-clumps all over the place! Ah, scoop it here, scoop it there, what's the difference, huh?

You want impatience, italicize 'what'. Otherwise, it's fine. I'm running Bambi's blankets through the dryer, just to get them hot. I finally got her to lie down, fed her some boiled white meat and rice. I hope this passes SOON. When she goes outside (5 or 6 times since 4:30a.m.) she comes back with cold, wet paws. And she HATES cold. I keep telling Al -- Dogs don't need chili! But he never learns.

Now I smell trouble brewing again. Nathan seems to be too smart for his own good. Cathy needs to quit feeling sorry for him or she might be in bigger trouble than a kidnapping.

Hey Buck,

Well, we're troting out all the syndromes at once here! Cathy is suffering from a small touch of Stockholm Syndrome, where the victim begins to align with her captor, begins to feel sorry for them. It's another of those psychological things people can 'assume' when it's helpful. The most famous sufferer of this was Patty Hearst. At the time, no one realised what she'd suffered.

But yes, it's going to complicate things, that's for sure.

Hmmm, I wonder if Dr Pritchard has met them all or if there is another one or two in there. I also wonder if another might develop from the stress of the situation. The mind is a strange thing and we still have much to learn about it.. From what we knew about Cathy already, I'm not at all surprised that she feels sorry for Nathan. I think she is a very kind hearted soul. Very well done.

I think when one has suffered a loss like Cathy's, the empathy runs high for those percieved as also having suffered. There's a tad of Stockholm Syndrome going on there, too, but not much.They weren't together long enough for that to really develop. But it might bring her a bit of trouble later. We'll see!
