Well, the guys had their priorities. A guy's got to eat, regardless. And your husband was the official weather watcher. I'm glad you all stayed safe and weren't affected by the tornado. I enjoyed your comments about the family, especially Andrew saying the schedule had to be maintained. (The girls probably wouldn't have minded some variation.) Interesting and amusing post. judi

I know the girls wouldn't mind having their schedule upset. LOL Thank you for the support.

You're welcome. It must have been a scary time to think of a tornado approaching. I'm glad it turned out well. judi
-
It was. The comments on this story brought back another memory of another tornado. I'll probably write it for next week.
-
Oh, my goodness! I think one scare would be enough to go through. I remember at least one when I was living in Texas. judi

I once went to visit my son at Ft. Sil in Oklahoma when he was stationed there. There was a loud siren and he herded us into a cinder block room in the center of the house. It was a very tense few minutes. Great story! Gretchen

I love this story. It is interesting very well written. The men acting like it's not a big deal while the rest of you worry, lol. I can relate to that. Glad you had a nice visit despite the storm.

That's so funny! I think we all wonder if we brought home the wrong baby. Some genes are really surprising. Thanks for the fun story and am happy that the weather did not disrupt the girls' routines!

Barbara,
This is a wonderful story. I always enjoy stories about your family. They provide quite a bit of entertainment. Glad the tornado didn't hit your son's house and everyone was safe.
Well done

A great story, Barbara, about family life and that threat, that, thankfully, I've never had to suffer here in the UK, of a tornado. My favourite line was
"I often worry about my menfolk...." So cool and resigned from experience:) Well done! Take care Debbie

This is wonderful. Your storytelling is so natural and full of personality - I can really picture everything happening. Andrew being a point A to point B person while you like to explore C and D made me laugh! Your writing makes even a tornado warning feel warm! Such a great read!

Hey, Chickee-baby,
How ya doin'? Miss me much?
Note - the correct answer would be yes -- just saying. *smile*
This was a nice, enjoyable read - just what I expected, though you surprised me with a non-fiction piece. The idea of getting to know you better is cool though, so I heartily approve. ha!
A couple tiny notes, if you don't mind:
1.) "Mom, we don't mess with the girls' routine. They eat, bath(e), get read to, and go to bed."
2.) The tornado missed the area of Andrew's neighborhood, but did cause a lot of damage on the Illinois side of the Mississippi.
--> yay! ... but a little redundant... perhaps:
--> The tornado missed Andrew's neighborhood, but did cause a lot of damage on the Illinois side of the Mississippi.
I know that you must be used to dealing with tornado watches and all the fun that entails back home in Texas, right? Us, too. We've been lucky so far, and there are lots of severe storms expected this weekend. Yuck.
Good to see you! Hugs-

I miss you so much. God put you on my heart the other day and I said a little prayer. Texas does have tornados, but my area hasn't had one since the early 1900's. Not sure why. I write these nonfiction pieces quickly and only edit a tiny bit. They're just for fun. I still do my romance novels on Sundays. My prayers are going out to you and your family. HUGS!!!!!!!

We've got shots like that, one of them was with our granddaughter Indah, she was about 2, fast asleep at one end of the sofa, and our dog, Buddy, who was devoted to her, asleep st the other end of the sofa, my elder child was in Brisbane last week with a cyclone hitting a broad area of NSW and Queensland where they live, it was still bad, but declined to a tropical depression, but was still wide spread flooding, they were safe, beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy

Two of my girls are terrified of the mention of a storm and the other children take it with a grain of salt. I don't get too excited and I suppose that's because I had to remain calm for these freaking out. I always love to read about your adventures with family.
