We have a lot of coyotes howling here in the mountains of Southern California. Your poem speaks of the deep hunger that these animals express through their howls.

I actually think there is such depth to the coyotes' howls and, especially, when it's mixed with some of their other 'barks' and 'yips'... almost surreal. Thanx for the review on this shorty, sir, and may the New Year bring extra smiles and sunshine for you and yours!! ;) Yvette

Echoes stab the soul. That line stays with me. It personified echoes and brings these given syllables to life. The image balances your poem. I also love the sensory words in this poem. I will try another Renga myself soon. Best wishes to you, Alex

This 5-7-5, Wounded Night, has the proper formatting and fits well into the current theme of the ongoing renga. One can imagine the soulfelt howling which comes from pain and separation.

It is certainly a sound that cannot be mimicked, Sir Bill... Thanx for stopping by on this shorty! ;) Yvette

Hearing such sounds at night would be a bit frightening, but thankfully I live in the city where you only hear car engines and folk partying at night! Which is the lesser of the two evils you may ask? I enjoyed your unusually poem Yvette as those midnight sounds in the wild may haunt us when camping outside! Love Dolly x x x

The city certainly has a voice of its own... I live on a substantial piece of property, but only a mile or so from the 'city' so, I have a blend of both... makes for an interesting mix sometimes! ;) Thanx stopping by on this one, my lady! ;) Yvette

Oooh! This one's hypnotically alluring! The words whirl around like fingers ready to reach out and grab us! Really well done - and nice choice of artwork as the perfect cherry on top.

The night certainly carries sounds over distances, and the stiller the better, I've experienced the wonders of ancient outdoor theatres, and the the cleverness of those associated acoustics is mind blowing, and natural acoustics? Glory to God, well done,bLessing's Roy
