This is wonderful and so relatable! I wonder if it's technology and this fast paced world always distracting us from our thoughts? You are so right about writing being good for the brain!

Debi, did you write this for me? Lol! Some times I do the same exact thing. I am going into a room to get something and then I remember that I do not remember what I came in the room for - it seems kind of strange when that happens more and more. I can truly relate to this poem. Keep up the great work!

Dear Harry, Hahaha, I was just trying to be funny with this, as I remember already twenty years ago going into another room and forgetting what I went in there for. Yes, it was fun writing something we could all relate to. And I do think that most of us are pretty happy with most of our friendships here too. Thank you so much for being one of mine.
    Love and hugs, Debi

Harry, you mentioned you might be interested in a birthday poem. Do you mind me asking when is your birthday?
reply by Harry Craft on 24-Sep-2024
Lol! Well, mine is July 27th.

Shoot, but you are on for next year and I will contact you before then. If that is ok?

You get my first six this week. This is so universal, Debi. I feel like my dog looks when he gets into the middle of a room and just stands there. Well done, and I like your format and your font on this one--easy to read!

Debi,
I at 67, I share your brain fog. Have you ever put your cell phone in a refrigerator? I did once. I retrieved it before it exploded!
I have a small apartment, yet I misplace things sometimes
What a wonderful poem celebrating an aging, but wiser brain!
Best wishes,
Debi.
Cindy

I knew you weren't losing your mind, most of us believe that happened many years ago. The best thing about your poetry is the feeling of fun your work brings to us readers. Poetry can and should be entertaining and your postings provide that. For that I thank you.

Oh Debi,
This is the cutest poem ever. I love the way it is written, with the repeated theme of What did I come in here for? I love it. It sounds like me on a good day. I just spent an hour looking for a hammer, just to find it sitting on the arm of the couch. I even had Kylie looking for it with me, lol.

This is a poem I'm sure just about everyone on here can relate to. It's honest, well written and leans towards something at least I struggle with. You made it funny, which is a good way to look at the subject. If you can't learn to laugh at yourself, you just get bitter.

Thanks so much for the smile,
Big hugs,
Rhonda

I can relate. This happens more and more every day. At our house, we call it the "But First" syndrome. On my way to the kitchen, I am distracted several times so that by the time I get to the kitchen, I have no idea why I am there.

This would really be funny if it wasn't soooo true.

Blessings my friend
Janet

I loved that line "I worry what I might forget". Writing is good for our brains. Just knowing someone cares enough to read what we write is a gift. Just think, if we get ALZ everything is new every day! Just kidding. You are loved. Esther

I'm glad it's only 75% fiction for you. I had the very same experience this morning, and that isn't funny or fiction. Cute poem. I like the repeated line throughout, and the great rhymes. Yes, writing helps our brain cells. Thanks for the reminder. Have a blessed week. Carol

This is totally cute Debi and I got a real kick out of it!
It makes any person over 45 laugh but not too hard as serious memory problems are not funny. At your age I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably a little old age forgetfulness and nothing to panic about.
Good rhyme and meter make for a smooth read.
Take care

Hey Sweetie!! Who you calling old? Hahahaha. No, I will not give in to old age and like I said in the box right by the title, it was 75% fiction. It was just something I mostly made up as I went. I wonder if anybody reads those because everyone is laughing but takin me serious. I just really needed a good laugh today so I did this one to help others laugh with me.

Thanks so much, Katie. Yes, I am turning 70 next month and having trouble with the fact but even tho I live in pain and have since I was 25 when diagnosed w lupus, I try to keep a good attitude. I have one suggestion for you. Don't blink, cause it goes so fast after 40. I have a son your age who was also born in 77.
Anyway, thanks so much for the fun review and comments and for the lovely stars. You are so sweet. I can't wait to spread a little sunshine your way, my dear friend. As yours is in almost a month. So that means you can send me info about yourself any time between now and then. Ok? Thanks again!!
    Love and hugs. Debi
