What a disaster Wendy and it could have ended up in tragedy. I am glad you all survived and no one spilled the beans to your parents. I was on the edge of my seat as you told this tale.

one edit here Wendy:
(significantly shorten (our) homeward trip).

A joy to read, love Dolly x

Good eyes! An excellent pick up of my typo. Thank you. Thanks too for a super review. Yes, my foolishness could have easily ended in disaster. I must ask my sisters if they remember this. I can still vividly recall every detail!

Oh, dear! Reading this, I was with you every step of the way. It's interesting that responsibility for others can feel like a good stroke to our ego, until something goes terribly wrong because of a decision we make. I'm wondering if your younger sisters were old enough to remember that adventure. Very well done. Thank you for sharing the story.

I must ask them if they remember. For me every detail is still vivid, so many years later. Thank you so much for this very positive review. Always appreciated.

This is a wonderful story of childhood that painted such a vivid picture of you four girls on the seashore that it could easily fit into classical literature. Filled with a range of emotion from panic and fear to relief and exhaustion, your memories stand out impressively to engage and charm. Thank you for sharing, Wendy. A great write! Debbie

This has to be one of the most amazing and encouraging reviews I've ever had. MANY thanks. I greatly appreciate your words and support, and the sixth star is the icing on a delicious cake. Thank you so much.

Hello, Wendy!
I read your mesmerizing offering this morning before heading over to our daughter's home where I shared your story with her! Yes! It moved me that much!
I was for certain that something dreadful was going to happen to you or one of your precious sisters!
Whew!
Rich in details and development of thought.

Just one note:
In paragraphs 8,9, and 10 you repeat the term "rocky promontory." Please consider a synonym for said description if possible!

Much enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing!
fondly,
diane

Thank you VERY much for your positive words and great encouragement, along with that beautiful sixth star. Thanks too for the insight - how did I repeat that phrase three times?! I have adjusted it now. I am so pleased you enjoyed the story - even enough to share! That's something special.

Thank you for sharing this poem reminds me of slide rock in Sedona Arizona. If you've ever been it's very slates it's a lot of walking a lot of swimming and sliding down puppy rocks. It's really not a good place for the little ones it actually hurt my back as an adult. But we all signed up for it so we all had to walk on her own we couldn't hold babies we were too busy holding their Floaties and the coolers with lunch.

Thank you for reviewing, Lisa, and for sharing your memories of that place in Arizona. Much appreciated.

Wow! That really sound scary. For some reason, I feel that I have some panic type memory when I felt as you must have felt. I remember a lot of my past, but I"m thinking it might have blocked something out I don't want to remember. I'm glad no one fell. It could have been a tragedy.

Thank you Beth. A super review, and now you'll be wondering what this story triggered in your memory bank! Yes, it could have ended VERY badly for all of us.

I love the sea and at my age I have great respect... I stay away. But when I was a child, I almost drowned I three feet of water. My sister and I were playing around and laughing so hard every time the strong waves pushed us down. We swallow some water but we were okay.

Thank God you and your sister are okay.

You are a prolific writer and always pay attention to details.

Well done!

Thank you very much Gypsy for this review, both positive and encouraging. Yes, I too love the sea - to watch and enjoy from a distance! Perhaps I learnt a significant lesson that day.

OH MY!! God was watching over you and your sisters that day. We played outside until the streetlights came on too, but only in our neighborhood. Each neighbor had big backyards, no fences and we just ran from one yard to the next. Our parents would check out the windows and keep and eye on us.

Wow, what an intriguing biological tale. I'm not surprised you never took them out to the beach again. I'm so glad nothing drastically tragic happened, though these risky adventures do happen with unsupervised kids sometimes. I think most parents would take dirty, but safe, kids over a clean house any day--at least I hope so.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. I think that her generation held greatly to the importance of a clean and tidy home, and children who were seen (but not too much) but not heard. Lol. We survived, and that's the main thing.

The first paragraph sounds pretty much like my house when I was raising my kids.

Wow, what a story! You should have entered it in the True Story contest, unless you've already entered something else.

I can totally understand why your habits changed after that - you must have all been scared out of your minds!

Well told, Wendy. And it's best that Mum wasn't privy to that information.

Thank you so much for this delightful review. I must have traumatised myself, as I can still remember every detail vividly all these years later! I thought about putting it in the true story contest, but now I am planning something else, which may or may not be a good decision. Thanks too for the beautiful extra star shining so brightly next to the other five. A greatly valued bonus.
