Hahaha... I can imagine everybody laughing out of control. I haven't done that in a long time.

I just watched "witness" with Harrison Ford for the tenth time. I love that movie. It's so romantic and it takes a good look at the Amish culture, the best and the worse.

You are a wonderful story tellers and Gretchen too. I'm enjoying your book very much.

Well done!

Lol. I love this joint effort. You are both such entertaining and skilful writers. You seem to have understood each other's personalities and characters wonderfully well. Looking forward to more!

It's interesting that your story has taken an Amish turn. I grew up in Pennsylvania, around an hour and ten minutes from Lancaster Pennsylvania... Amish country. My husband worked in Lancaster and we often shopped in Amish markets or stores that carried their products. Plus, they came to the farmer's market in the city on Saturdays to sell meats, produce and fresh juices.

If you are driving and encounter a group with horses and a buggy on the road, they do not move to allow you to pass. You must drive at crawling speed behind them, and hope that after two or three miles, they turn off.

I look forward to the humorous trouble you get into now that your hat and clothing are being eaten and you have to navigate through mud in stilettos. I just hope you get to the FS convention in time.

Well, we hope to see YOU there, too, right? Hopefully, all our FS friends will make a cameo appearance!!

We have a lot of Menonites about an hour from here. They're similar to the Amish, but they have more conveniences.

Thanks for the wonderful review. Very much appreciated. xoxo

My daughter and her husband live in New Jersey. If I attend the conference, I can visit them. The last time I did, they both were diagnosed with Covid and I had to stay in a hotel until time to fly back home.

If they tell you again this time, when you're there for the conference, though, demand they show you the test strips. Kids these days are pretty savvy, don'tcha know... xoxox

I knew those leopard stilettos spelled trouble! But apparently innocent observations can lead to some difficult conversations! It's good that Rebekah found a compassionate ear to share her sad story to. And of course, you added levity to it all with the stilettos! Hope the goats don't eat everything!!

    Sadly, they did!!

I thought it was important after such sad revelations, to counter it with something funny.

Thank you for this nice review, Helen. xoxo

This is very well written and I enjoyed it. I think this is a wonderful idea that the two of you have seen on writing these stories. I've enjoyed the one from Gretchen and now I enjoyed the one from you as well. Have a good day and God bless. Patricia.

Oh I knew it! Amish life will never be the same for these people. Your clothes are gone for good so we will see how those leopard stilettos look with denim over alls. Bring on the chaos!

As I am not familiar with the Amish or their ways, I do not know how accurate this account is. It appears to be pretty accurate even though the story is said to be fiction. I know that fiction can be accurate and totally believable according to the writer's skill at crafting a believable story. I found the story enjoyable whether it was real or fictional.

    Hi, Nomi!

I happened upon an author a few years back whose specialty was murder mysteries that happened in the fictional Amish town of Painters Mill, PA. Plus, just a couple counties east of here, there's a sect of Menonites, and we bought a dog from one of the families. Plus, decades ago, I bought satin from them that I used to make my wedding dress. So, the "Amish" part of this is accurate to the best of my knowledge and ability. I do double-check everything on Google, just to be accurate, out of respect.

So thank you for the lovely review, which I very much appreciate! xxox

What language is Simeon hissing in? It looks like German, but they came from Switzerland originally? Just curious.

"rumbling like drums at the Battle of the Bands portion of a fireman's carnival"? Where do you come up with this stuff? (I'm secretly - not so secretly now - jealous that I didn't come up with this.)

I could have told you wearing stilettos would get you into trouble. Nothing good ever comes from walking on stilts.

I was literally laughing out loud as I read this! You are a funny, funny woman. Is your life kinda like this? You know, getting yourself into ridiculous situations and joining everyone in a good laugh at your expense?

Sounds like fun:-)

Do I have to wait a week to read the next one? Boo!

Have a great week, teach:-)

xoxo

You don't fly out of your shoes because they're always on ground level, slurpring UP the mud with every shuffle you take!

The language is Pennsylvania Deutsch. It says so right before he speaks:

Simeon hisses in Pennsylvania Deutsch, "Rebekah! Nicht fanna rum!"

I Although it's true that the Amish originated in Switzerland, when they were fleeing from persecution, they landed in places like the Netherlands and Germany, so Pennsylvania Dutch is kind of an amalgam of those two languages.

I may or may not have many, many MANY humiliating moments to my credit...and you may or may not find them in a book I have on FS entitled A Fly on the Wall Journal.

I'm glad you got some laughs here, though. Mission accomplished.

I'll talk to Gretchen and see if she's interested in doing more than one chapter a week for our fabulous fans and let you know accordingly!!

Thanks for the wonderful review. xoxo

I am so sorry this is a fictitious story...it is totally hilarious and, yet, has sad parts that touch the heart in a beautiful way. You are such an excellent storyteller, Rachelle. Now I MUST switch over and find out the point of view GW Hargis is telling. What a delight! XO
