The store owner, Joe, saw what the world sees...sadness, depression, the desire for destruction, and death. He had no clue about the fulfilling life to be lived in Christ. This is a great story with a surprising and satisfying ending.

This story, Joe's Seen Everything, moves along quickly and gets to the totally unexpected answer to the stranger's purpose for the seemingly deadly artifacts. Well done, Jim.

You are such a wonderful writer, and this is a great story. You might consider selling this to one of the many religious magazines. They are always looking for really good writing and you certainly can write imaginative and faith-based stories.

Aww what a lovely twist at the end inspired by your strong faith! This would seem to be the perfect length for a contest and your story is told in excellent narrative and dialogue. A shame that you couldn't enter it. Well done, Jim! Debbie

O yes, people tend to make assumptions about people, it exposes how judgemental, making human beings as judgemental, which we need to run away from, but you made a great finish with glorifying God, well done, blessings Roy

As the man said, this the owner couldn't have been more wrong. It isn't good idea to think you really understand what is going on in a man's heart. No one really know but God. Nicely writtien.

Oh, don't we all do that...assume things about people we know nothing about. I am a shop owner and I catch myself 'forming opinions' about people based on their purchases or even their shopping styles. I love your twist and honoring of the Lord. Well done!

I enjoyed the message here as we make assumptions about what we see, but cannot always be right about people's behaviour and cannot judge a book by its cover. A clever post Jim and I enjoyed the sentiment, love Dolly x x x

Hi, Jim

Interesting paradox. I wonder why Joe thought he knew what the customer was going to do with the items being sold to him.

I don't know whether to believe Joe suspicions or the customer, but a customer was lying, and that would be blasphemy

I enjoyed reading your

Here I think it sounds better to say had rather than did

"raised, came into the shop precisely at 10, as he did for several weeks now."

Here should be objects

"Joe gathered the object for purchase, then took a good long look at the man,"

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Well, that was certainly a surprise. I was hesitant, like Joe, and good for him for trying to dissuade the guy from hurting himself. Of course, I thought the guy was buying them to kill somebody or somebodies other than himself.
Good ending: good in that it really is a good thing he got them for, and good, in a surprise ending.
