Debi, this is a beautiful tribute, honoring mothers. I have always believed that moms are the most important people in the world. I was blessed to have my wife, my mom, and my two grandmas. Except for Mother Mary, those four women were the best of the best. The world
was a much better place with them here. Willie

Awe, Willie, I always get excited when I see your motorcycle pull up. Gosh it is good to see you. How have you been?

And thanks so much for the lovely review of this MD story. It is kind of unusual, but it is a fact. I thought it interesting because I have never heard it before. But I guess I never paid attention until now.

Thanks for the kind words and your six stars for this poem, my very dear friend.
    Lotsa Love, Debi

I enjoyed reading this and learning the origins of Mother's Day.
I twas nice her daughter followed through with her mothers idea and
got it started and President Wilson made it official.
Thanks for sharing.

Ik enjoyed reading your poetic history of Mother's Day, and tribute to Anna Jarvis, from the city in which I was born. I agree that there are many women instrumental in the growth and development of children, who deserve the recognition you've expressed. I hope you had a joyful Mother's Day.

I was hospitalized last week and missed the opportunity to keep up with reviews. However, I am now back home to recuperate with meds and therapy. (As you know, I have overwhelming and debilitating back issues and it felt like my back had exploded).

Hey, my sweet earth Angel, I am so sorry you were in the hospital with your back issues. I wish I would have known, as I would have found a way to get word to you and let you know that I will be praying for you more specifically and send you the next batch of butterflies I had ready.

So what did they do for you? You mentioned therapy and meds? Is it any better for you now? Oh, Sweetie, I thought of you as I had my last batch of experimental injections that did no good, so now after our anniversary part is over on Saturday, I will be having more spine surgery. I would love to talk to you first to see what they did for you and is it helping? Are you any better at all? I feel so bad for you because I know how hard it is. They do not seem to want to get better with rest, that is for sure. I will be praying for you for comfort and healing, my sweet friend. Thanks so much for letting me know.
    Love you so much! Debi

Hi Debi,
Thanks for the rhyming history lesson on Mother's Day. It has become commercialized like all other holidays. Cards are for everything now.
It is good that she worked to fulfill her mother's dream. I think you are right to include any woman who acts like a mother to a child.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Thanks for the good wishes. Same go to you.
Have a good rest of the day.
Joan

Mam and Mammy come to mind, otherwise, I think you've got it covered, Debi. A very nice little history lesson poem explaining the origin of the holiday. We usually end up with a double celebration since my twin grandchildren were born May 12. I enjoyed your poem very much! Great job!

Each and every one of the "big hearted" women that you mentioned do deserve to be recognized for all that they give for the children who are in need. Thank you for sharing the story and for encouraging all of us to open up our hearts.
Smiles, Carol

Thank you Debi for sharing this poem. A good tribute to Anna Jarvis--- a lovely sentiment. I have argued against wishing Mother's Day to childless women. Like you, I thank Debbie D'Arcy for opening my eyes to the meaning of being a mother.

I, wonder, however, how this would reflect on the other gender when it comes to Father's Day. Frankly, your sentiments about childless women can be transferred to childless men, too. =)

BTW, I called my mother, Mamma. (Pronounced: Mum-maa).

-Very nice artwork and presentation, Debi.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-You did a good job giving the
background of Mother's Day.
-It's always good to learn new things.
-You make a good point about whether
or not her wishes would continue so
she would be very glad to know they did.
-Even though Mother's Day, like other
holidays is commercialized, you don't
have to participate in that aspect of it.
-A very good closing couplet.
-I can add mommy to your list.

You are very welcome for the review and addition of another word for your list. I vaguely remember hearing about the person who started Mother's Day, but it was a long time ago. We learn a lot from your poems. Keep up the good work, my friend.

You are right ..this has become very commercialised and I feel sad tat sometimes it is even insincere .The mothers are taken out for the day or for lunch/dinner..and of course not to forget the flowers..
but still mothers do need a day for all the life lonf caring they do..

Debi, thanks so much for bringing us information that enables us to celebrate Mother's Day in an even more historically accurate context. As always, you are looking for and finding new ways to encourage kindness, and heartfelt generosity. Thanks again for it all Debi

I found one word that I think you might want to add an S

"Exactly what her wishes were, she'd make those (dream - s)
come true."
