I'm so happy I caught this in the early chapters. Your other book was so far advanced that I had no chance to get caught up. I'm excited about the characters here and the saga. I'm in!

Best, JohnC

Thanks so much, John. If at all possible you might want to try and catch the first chapter.... it's a good lead in to what's happening throughout the book. I appreciate your reading, reviewing, and enjoying.

Carol, this is a good chapter. You are moving the story along nicely. You have the pot simmering, and you are slowly turning the characters into "I wonder how they all got here?"

The only comment is that down here in Texas, we would never refer to a taco as a sandwich. That could just be a Texas thing. Excellent work. Terry.

Thank you so much for continuing to follow my efforts and I hope you continue to enjoy it. I suppose I should say burrito or tortilla filled sandwich. I'm not a big fan so it didn't set off alarms. I'll check it out though.

No love lost between these two brothers! I know we'll have more branches off this road than a hundred year old oak!

Your skill for capturing a scene, emotion and building on the backstory makes this a winner!

This work has reached the exceptional level

The scene opens with Alyssa's frustration and disbelief at seeing a notorious figure from her past walking free. Through her inner turmoil and heated exchange with her boss, Chief Richard Harrison, the reader is drawn into the complexities of her emotions and the moral dilemmas she faces in her line of work.

Excellent.

Excellent writing, as usual. This story looks like it will be a thriller, and I'm sure it will. I like your style of writing. It makes the stories exciting and easy to follow and understand.

This is going to be one very dramatic novel, with wrongful imprisonment, vengeance, power plays in the police force (and the chief having been responsible for his brother's incarceration), and crime syndicates .... It'll be most interesting. Well written too, of course!

I think that this was a very well written chapter. It was real in a tradicional way as detective themes go.
I am looking forward to having the story expand a little the accepted genre of this type of story. I know that this could be difficult, but I really believe, it would
take it over tge top.
Well written and very descriptive work.

Wow, I think you've written an ace plot here Carol. The brother of the police chief is a crook, getting out under a cloud, picked up by Frank DeVito, I wonder what the continued rekationship will be? Well done, blessings Roy

Really enjoyed reading that out loud to my husband. Already aligning my emotions with the characters.
Only two suggestions: Tsk sentence: maybe unfriendly remark from not for? And I didn't know what shives were?
Loved it. Want to be your fan and read more.

I look forward to your comments. A shiver is a homemade knife that prisoners made and use. I'll check out the other suggestions as quick as possible.
