Beth, I don't think I've ever heard this message more perfectly delivered. It was set in the same context of Jesus's teaching - a parable relating to the times. It said it all. What a beautiful way to help us realize the importance of that GPS, one I never want to be without, either.

"This system was purchased at a great price for those that wish to have it as part of their boat." -- Why not make mention that 'the system' is offered to us at no cost, we simply have to choose it?

A fantastically great analogy. I'll have to share it with the moderator of our Bible Class, who used to spend much time in boating. I know when I piloted my own ship, I headed Straight for doom. Now, I may err at times, but the One who guides the Remote guides me safely on.

I enjoyed reading your essay on faith. I like the analogy to being in a boat and crossing the ocean, needing a remote which is faith and God is the super power. I also like how you mention we have a choice to use the remote or attempt to cross the ocean by ourselves. Excellent writing that draws the reader in and gives a good spiritual lesson.
