You have poetically described a marvelous teacher...one who cares about the wellbeing of each student, especially those in need of reassurance. Life can deal out a lot of tough hands, but when a person has been prepared to play them well, there are people in the background who helped cause it to happen.

still have mementos from some of my special students.
I can still remember some of them, and why they were special.

My wife was a teacher, actually she still is, she teaches in a University for the third age, French to retirees, she is amazing, all they get is an in occupation that general have society's lack of respect, whereas when I was young, they were, this is beautifully written, in ballad style, 8686 abab beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

What a beautiful poem, and what an amazing tribute! The teacher you describe sounds incredible, and your child is lucky to have her. Believe it or not, there are other teachers as caring as she is. I'm married to one such person, have others as friends, and am pleased that my own daughter benefitted from two such teachers neither she nor I will ever forget. What your daughter's teacher has, that the others don't, is an incredible poet such as yourself to appreciate them and sing their praises. I respect that you recognized what this person did, and took the time to publicly acknowledge and praise her. Too much of what teachers do goes unappreciated and unremarked upon.
From a poetic standpoint, your poem flows beautifully, and your abab rhyme scheme is impeccable. Good luck in the contest.

What a beautiful ode to teachers! I heartily agree! The teacher's work is never done just in the classroom. She cares for each child and thinks of them at home, too. So glad that this teacher helped your daughter and all her other students, too. Best wishes in the contest!
