This is an interesting insight into the healthcare system in America. I live in UK so currently receive free healthcare although I don't think this will be for much longer!! Thanks for sharing this with us.

Wendy, thank you for reading. Government Medicare is available to those over 65 in USA, it is very popular and affordable. Terry.

I enjoyed this all the way through. I guess our histories can also be followed through the medical personnel and decisions we make all through our lives.

Hi Terry, this was a delightful true story, and so well written. I can just visualise you seeing all the different doctors through your life and living through and with various conditions. Yet, never been ill until you got Covid. I loved the scene when you were eleven years old. It made me laugh out loud. Ulla:)))

An excellent piece of autobiographical writing. I like the way you have traced your life through doctors and physicians, and also shown your survival instincts throughout. Very clever, and most engaging.

Hi Terry,
It sounds like you've had a bit of medical conditions to deal with down through the years, but you've obviously conquered them. While having a nice looking gal to look at while you're getting some work done is a plus, like you mentioned, forefront in our minds anymore is the Medicare issue. Well done.
Have a blessed day.

Comment from Mary Vigasin
I love this for its warmth and wit. I grew up in a housing project and there too we could play until dusk and crime was someone cheating on a test. Now I would be afraid to walk there even in daylight.
Your story is interesting and engaging and you leave your reader with a smile with the medicare comment.

This is a great article, Terry. Lots of echoes of my own medical life in here. You have been blessed with a lifetime of great doctors - and so have I.
I have had had an Irish doctor for the past twenty-seven years. He has a walk in clinic every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday early in the morning (very rare in London). Patrick has been 'on safari' in Kenya for a month- but in the meantime has employed an old friend, Jonanathan (they are both in their sixities!) Both these men are like old friends - after I had successfully negotiated a triple bypass, Patrick gave me a big hug!
So having a 'family' doctor is a prerequisite for a quality of life - and the NHS (and Medicare) make it completely free! Praise God for insurance!

I enjoyed reading this personal accounts (That 's what I love reading most)of your doctors and ailments.
Things about old anywhere were good. I remember we used to leave the front door open all the time. Thefts were rare .Murders were talked about for days and years because they happened rarely.I still remember the first 'sensational ' story I read in the newspaper .It was the murder of a teenage girl. That she was the daughter of GRindley Bank's Manager increased the value of the news .Many days it was discussed and it was not solved which in turn lead to all kinds of rumour..
WE hardly used to consult a doctor for ordinary ailments. Home remedies were trusted
That was a time "gone with the wind"
I am sorry for this looong ..'review' .Your post brought out a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing ...

What a concern from uncircumcised to undersized LOL Loved the 13 year old's superior knowledge. An amusing start to your story about the various doctors you've needed throughout the years. I chuckled again at what you noticed about your new doctor. Well told Terry. Cheers

Valda, thank you for the six stars. I did grow up in a different time. I have often wondered what life would be like if we had the internet back then. Terry.
