Oh, so cute. Kids are so much fun. My granddaughter, she's five, when she doesn't like what my son is saying, because she's being corrected says, "Daddy, that doesn't make sense." Got to love kids.
"Nolan, you have in your hands diabetes in a box." I tease. (comma after 'box')

Love it. Maybe some one should start a club called "out of the mouths of babes". Just stories about children and their antics. Lol. Gretchen

LOL. Gretchen, you may be too young to remember a radio and later a TV show called "House Party" hosted by Art Linkletter. A segment of the show was, kids say the darnest things. It was very funny. Bill Cosby would later turn into a TV show, but not as good as the original. Well done. Terry.

Ha! Out of the mouths of babes! This is a great story about Nolan! I love the voided smile where two baby teeth used to be! I hate to say it, but my boys received diabetes in a box every morning! I loved this! Best, JohnC

Hey, if you can get anything in their stomachs, it's a win. Lol. Thanks, John. Gretchen

This is so cute, Gretchen, I had to laugh. You are right about kids; you can't make the stuff up. You tell a very good story about your grandson's surprise visit, and not having kid friendly food in the house. A cup of coffee definitely wouldn't do.
I like your line about his choice of anything with icing and sprinkles! I'm sure he was clueless about what you meant about "diabetes in a box," but he very politely proceeds to tell the cashier that they don't have donuts, repeating what his grandma told him. I like your saying at the end, too. Thanks for sharing the story.

You are welcome, Gretchen. That is the great thing about kids. They don't pull any punches and say what's on their mind.

Amen! Whether it's appropriate or not. Lol

This is very true!!!

This was sweet and funny! Kids say the darndest things, that's for sure. They have a constant flow of one-liners, I love it! It's a great feeling watching kids eyes light up when they walk in a doughnut shop. I loved this, great job!

Loved this Granny. A lovely short read and insight into your life as a Grandma, Nanny, Gigi or whatever. I was picturing Nolan taking it all in. He sounds like a cute kid.

Brilliant! Such a sweet tale which rings so true. You really can churn these out. Got the writing bug! Just wondered if 'I hear' in the second para, should be past tense?

I'll double check on that past tense thing. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm not the best editor. Lol. Thank you for this sweet review. Gretchen

That's an awesome, wholesome, true to life posting.
What's the saying? Out of the mouth of babes?
This weekend for the first time in five years we will have my three kids and five grandkids all together.
It'll be noisy as hell, but I can't wait.
John (great story by the way... go Nolan).

Lol. Exactly. I enjoyed this snapshot of your life, especially as last weekend I had my five year old granddaughter to stay over. We spent quite a long time at the playground with me constantly lifting her to reach the zip-line. A nearby grandpa must have seen my energy levels dropping and he said, Hang in there, Nanny. Keep going!!
I did. Lol.
Great little story.

Priceless. I once told my grandson when he was six to say he'd just got off work because we were going to the Waffle House late at night. That's all I said. "Just say you just got off work." Sure enough, the waitress asked us what we were doing out so late, and he told her he'd just got off work. She asked, "Where do you work?" "NASA," he said. Aren't kids great!

Dang! That boy didn't mess around. If you're gonna fib about having a job, might as well make it a good job. Lol. Thanks for the fun review. Gretchen
