It appears that Missy is playing mind games with Miranda again. That would be enough to scare the bejesus out of anyone, except Miranda. I'm wondering why Dougie bothered to call Waylon and tell him he'd be by tomorrow. It does lay the groundwork for using Waylon as a pawn in his money gathering scheme. If he knows how much Miranda wants Whalon there Dougie wouldn't hesitate to use his son as leverege. We'll see about that! Gretchen wouldn't do that to us. Great chapter, Gretchen!

Good for her! Like I said before I like Miranda. Dougie is not worth her time. She has his number now and his kid who she is growing fond of. Waylon is fond of her as well so she will be the mother figure he needs and Dougie is free to do whatever. She's lucky she's rid of the jerk. Nancy:)

He'd not giving up so easily. Lol. He's a con man. Thank you so much for the awesome review. And the stars. Gretchen

No, a con man never will until he finds someone else to con!

That Dougie is really something! Glad she stood up to him. Hoping he won't take Waylon away. And the dead flowers? Wondering if Missy has anything to do with that? Not that you'll let on just yet! Miranda is strong, I like her gutsy character.

Since this is part of a larger work it might help if you put a cast of characters in your author's notes. It doesn't bother me but some reviewers might ding you because you don't have a language warning on this. Good luck.

I probably should do the language warning. Thanks for reminding me. Thank you for this great review. Gretchen

This is well-written with good dialog and pace. You instantly arouse sympathy with Miranda and enmity towards Dougie. it's nice to see Miranda not falling for Dougie's tricks again and seeing him for what he is.

Very good job.

Ahh, Miranda! Such serious growth! It's so easy to cheer for her...and for Waylon, too. But those dead flowers? NOT comforting! That's for sure. But Miranda will be able to handle whatever happens!

Nicely done, Gretchen!
