How exciting is it to join the library! And the book drop is the icing on the cake. A whole new world is opened up to a child inside the pages of a book. You have incorporated this idea well with your well chosen words and rhymes. Cute picture and enjoyable read. Faye

Faye, thank you so much :-) And nowadays, they allow the teeny ones to have their own cards, unlike my day when you had to be able to print your name first. Of course, Mommy had to co-sign so they can make sure lost or ruined books are paid for. LOL

Very good once again! And to write about a momentous occassion like the first library book, I hope the parents are saving these for him when he gets older. A wonderful tribute to the child!

Hi Brooke - This is really, really good. One of your best in my opinion. Perfect rhyme, meter and just worded so perfectly. It's a joy to read - with a great picture. You had a great idea here. Kind Regards Dorothy

Brooke,
This is pretty cool. I always listen to make sure the book doesn't disappear somewhere in the wall. LOL Imagery is excellent. I'm so glad he likes books.
Love,
Barbara

Adewpearl: Your son is so adorable. I am sure that the pirates, mountains, hills and mansions are so exciting for Sawyer. Books are friends that stretch the imagination and think outside the box.
Would you need a comma after I made, my new friends. You are the expert here. Well written poem grabbing my attention. Maybe, Sawyer can help write or rewrite a children's story with his input and names of friends. I did this with my daughters. I enjoy your poems.

I used to love taking my little ones to the library. It was like a huge wonder world just waiting. I remember when my father used to take me. His love of reading the written word translated into my love of writing. Great adventure in something so simple. Great job.

I am not surprised that Mr. Sawyer is a reader. I am sure his imagination is growing as quickly as he is. Love the personification of the book drop and all the story elements that it consumed. 8-)

This is so sweet, I can see Sawyer telling this to his mom and grandmom. I loved the lines about the pirates and elephants meeting in the book drop. This so inventive and fun to imagen all the things in side of bookdrop interacting. Hmm, what if some one dropped in Fifty Shades of Gray after the pirate book? Good stuff there, Brooke.

Great work in this library drop box. It brought sweet memories of my own as well...always borrowing books not long ago. Sweet Sawyer is learning civic duties as well.
