I really enjoy reading your work. Not only for the literary content but the manner in which you present it, so polished and if I may say unusual, (in a good way!). I have always been weary of birds especially Ravens and crows. Maybe it's because of their jet black feathers and eyes make them look evil. Well I hope your dream is not a pre- prediction of impending doom, more of an inspiration for this well written work!

Fantastic presentation, as usual, my talented friend, Deano.
I read the 1st two stanzas, and they were PERFECTLY METERED, so I held my breath. :-)
Unfortunately, a couple of lines thereafter don't quite scan:
9, 12, 14, 20.
However, what the f*ck - I sure don't wish to sound patronising, but you are really getting the hang of meter, and a few glitches here don't take much away from your genius at the occult.
Here's a well-deserved sixer, my friend.
Cheers, Ray.

Ha ha, coming from you, Rayman, I take that as the greatest compliment, my friend. I will look into those lines you mentioned, see if I can tighten this up a bit more.
I'm very grateful for the complimentary review and exceptional rating!~Dean:}

Thanks for the gracious reply, Dean.
I don't know what's wrong with my computer, but it's ultra-sensitive nowadays.
Every time I try to cut n paste a line, 'FS' disappears and 'Google server' pops up. I then have to keep clicking the blue back and forth arrows, and half the time, my comments are lost.
That's why I didn't cut n paste the lines I mentioned, and offer humble suggestions.
Cheers, Ray.

No worries, Ray. I will try to tighten them up as best I can. At least it's just a few lines this time, heh-heh!

Very impressive Dean.
This clever work caught and held my attention throughout.
I didn't feel fear, for it seemed as though all was as it should be.
The poetic tale flowed so naturally with quite a catchy meter.
Your muse is messing with your head even as you sleep, it seems. Some say this is how, and when, the most creative writing is born. Hmm.
Amazingly presented as always.

You're not kidding, Shirley! My muse keeps me awake at night, the little bugger!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me on the poem, and for the wonderful six star rating as well. I truly appreciate it!

Dean this is superb imagery........................crows are so intelligent....and blue black feathers impress...but I don't think of them of harbingers of doom..but I am not normal:o)

You're not alone there, kiwijenny. The American Indians look at them as good luck symbols. This speaks only tho the beliefs of mythology.
Thanks so much for the review.

A poem of dread, I loved the authors notes also really interesting, this poem was worded so well and it held my interest right up to the end, we always hated black birds as a kid, my gran always said they were unlucky, and symbolised death, so I understood the authors note totally a great poem

Great poem, Dean, I loved the skill with which you wrote this, you certainly have a penchant for the darker pursuits of writing, but the art work gives a definite lift to your narrative which is stand alone good! I loved what you shared in the author's notes, well done, blessings, Roy.

How death can come in neat garments wicked as it is
How brave and audacious even more than the living. Shouldn't life be even bolder. Your poem reminded me of Poe's Raven. Its well written and I like the layout. Thanks for sharing.

I love the illustration
good assonance and consonance in crow of blackest coat
excellent use of internal rhyming
good alliteration in phrases like time or two and sad songs
vivid descriptive detail in telling this eerie story
It isn't light out yet, which is adding to the creeps you've just given me. LOL :-) Brooke
