I felt like I was right there! Like I was the little girl in the story. That's how well Ms. Law has written this.
I actually felt the fear that she felt when she really did scratch 'the witches' car.

Thank you. Are you aware you gave me a low rating that reflects poor writing?

No, i was not aware. I contacted 'Fanstory' and asked how to rectify

Oh, moms are just the most wonderful gift, are they not? Banishing witches and being our biggest cheerleaders no matter the 'game'! ;) :) A lovely offering, Lady Sal -- thanx for the reminder of just how magical moms are and what is always expected of us in certain situations! :) Yvette

Thank you for the outstanding review and glorious stars. I'm just so honored, dear Yvette. Moms are magical and my mom was very special. My dad left when I was very young, and she had become a pro in dealing with difficult people. I miss her so much. I still hear her voice in my head and have her in my heart.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs....

Hi Sally,
You could have entered this story in the Halloween contest. It's really special. Perhaps you have already entered a story there. I loved it from start to finish. Serves the old witch right. Now she actually has something to crow about, but she already pointed her gnarled finger at you when you didn't deserve it. So too bad for her. You were a little girl, and she scared you to death. Looks good on her.
"tow-headed"... I've never run into that expression before. And I'm almost 70.
"She would be cackling now, savoring her just deserts." ... (desserts)
Nicely penned! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Thank you for the stellar review and glorious stars, dear Kimbob. It is so appreciated. I'm not much of a horror writer but I guess this would have qualified for the Halloween contest. I'm delighted you enjoyed it.
Just deserts. Despite its pronunciation, just deserts, with one s, is the proper spelling for the phrase meaning "the punishment that one deserves." I checked this out with Merriam Webster after a reviewer corrected me on it. I had it as you did. How about that!
Sending you my best today as always,

What a great story. I rad it in one breath. Yes, there are witches out there, and she was not a good witch. Your brought out the girl's fear so well when the witch threatened her; but at the final incident when she did really hit the sorceress's car, I thought the witch would bring the Sheriff. But apparently the girl's mother put a feat of God into the woman (lol).
I really enjoyed this.
Excellent narrative, good use of a dialogue and I liked your artwork.

I loved it. Your writing style is quite descriptive, but not over-done. It read very easily and it made me want to read it to its wonderful ending. Congratulations.

A good Halloween story, here. You brought to life this childhood experience of dealing with the unfriendly lady who accuses you of ruining her car. I like all the detail in describing your situation with your single mother and the apartment complex. The lady giving you the evil eye. And your mother sending her on her way, determined to defend her daughter. estory

Of course, you know what really happened, don't you? The witch cast a spell on you so that you would have a little accident and scratch her car. That way, she could accuse you and you wouldn't be able to deny it. That's what witches do! But she didn't know you had a magical angel in your corner. Lol. Loved your story, Sally. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

It sounds like you had a wonderful mother. She got rid of the witch for you! It must have been wonderful to have someone believe you and protect you. Great story!

Well, it doesn't happen much, and it never happened to me, but sometimes mom's take up for their kids. Of course, mine never did. But truth be known, I was almost always guilty of something. Thanks for sharing.
