Loved this! I'm catching up as you know... off to read the next chapter. I'm totally taken with it all - it flows smoothly. I have nothing negative to say...

I'm wondering now, why Abby was so intent on pushing Jack for an answer to her question 'what do you believe?' and what her answer would be for that same question. Interesting conversation and a little carrot left dangling at the end, with the blond-haired man below.
Another good read Deb,
cheers,
valda

My family had a traumatic event once, and the man who was responsible drove a black Cadillac. It was stunning how many black Caddis we aw, or cars that resembled his. Jack's just going through that -- seeing his enemy in every possible stranger. But yeah, I do like dangling carrots. :)
    Thanks again and, as always,

Oh-oh. Why is there a blond man with a large build on the sidewalk below? You got me worried!
Good job with the spiritual discussion between Abby and Jack. I wonder if Abby has a testimony to share with him?

Not seeming to catch this in the correct order but managing to keep the thread going in spite of myself and lack of organization - haha. Another good read, sis. Keep it up!

This work has reached the exceptional level

Deb,

Another super chapter. You're doing a really really good job with this story. I'm enjoying it a lot. Kudos!

Notes:
1.) apparently amused that her question (had taken) him so aback.

2.) His voice held a sudden air of hostility. ". She and Cody were ... perfect.
--> lose that period at the beg

Looks great!

If Jack was not merry I could think that there is a romance going around the room with doctor Abby. Anyway thanks for this cleverly done chapter, where you are filling some empty spots from the brother's biography.

I was worried someone might hook them up. lol. That's actually why I let Jack mention that God gave both he and Cody amazing women. I wanted to make it clear that he's still head-ove-rheels with her. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter, Iza!
    Blessings and, until later,

Tickled pink to see you posted more on this saga. Nice turn of events and more slow paced after the trauma of the last post. Abby is an interesting character.

Yeah, I really like Abby. She's tough as nails, but has a good heart and loves Jesus. I'd like to be her when I'm grown. lol. (I'm 60, so I think I missed my target! lol)
    Blessings, sweet friend,

This is a very well written chapter; interestingly put progressive taletelling, good plot development, very appropriately realistic and contributory dialogues, good beginning and catchy, curious ending; there are just a few inexpressive expressions, you may please check: 1. "And now?" 2. The basic Christian stuff. 3. "So, what, then, Detective?" 4. "Nothing to get upset about." 5. "How about a game of 31? 6. Abby answered, no clue as to what Jack meant. enjoyed the read; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

I know that is what we have all thought as some time in our lives, when everything seems so helpless, and the good people suffer more than the bad. I've often wondered if it would be good if God interfered and took the badness away and created a utopia of love and fun. Would life be worth fighting for if it was? Would we appreciate it? I've just answered my own long asked question! Jack has some sorting out to do in his own mind. He has to see what he has been given, not just what has been taken away.
This must have been a tough one to write, but you put it down perfectly. Well done again, Debs, a pleasure as always to read. :)) Sandra xxxx

One nit below, and the other, what were the xxx for?

"Was he a really bad doctor or"" should this be.

Thank you, Sandra. Fixed the nit.
I think you're right about God giving us Heaven too soon. I grew up in the perfect family -- perfect. We lived in the country, surrounded by ranches and farmland, my mom and dad loved eah other and we were between loving grandparents and an aunt and her two kids. I don't remember my parents fighting, although I now know they did. (Dad would go to Grandmomma and Pops for coffee and Mom would load us kids up in the car and go for a drive. Funny thing is, the grandparents were Momma's parents.) Mom was in the PTA, great cook, baked cookies pretty much daily. Dad was a mmusic minister, we were active in church and they were attentive parents. Did I know that? No.
I guess I thought everyone grew up in Neverland.
I think we'd be ungrateful if God allowed that in our lives, so I agree with you. Of course, a little LESS hardship would sometimes be very appreciated! lol
Hey, if you ever want to 'visit', send me a PM. I have a harder time reading the replies, although I'm not sure why. Format, maybe...

It sounds like you had a lovely childhood. Most loving parents won't let the children see when they have an argument. But, those arguments aren't the type that create divorces, they are more like one is in a bad mood. Or something silly like that.
yes, I will PM you, you can do the same if you fancy a chat at any time. Don't forget there is a big time difference. Your morning, is my afternoon. ;))

Well, you know, the UK has always been a step ahead of the US. You even come before us alphabetically! lol
I remember when I was there on tour, the time difference was an issue to call home after concerts. My folks did NOT appreciate the midnight (or later) calls. ol. Go figure!
    Will chat soon,
