Ha, ha. That raised a smile on my face. Flash fiction usually depends on a good culminating twist, and you got one here :)
Oh, and my father actually was a cook in the World War II -- I never asked him if he killed anyone, though.

Thanks for the laugh on this beautiful spring morning. I'm an old Vietnam vet and have experienced a few of those meals..LOL.
But, basically, unless you were on the front-line, we were very well fed.
Congratulations on a great win and thanks again for the laugh, I needed that...Bill

This sixty-word story, A Visit to Granddad, has the right word count and takes the question and answer time for veterans and their kids to this sublime and comfortable place. Funny!

Hello :)
I enjoyed reading your short story.
It is entertaining and well written.
Nice touch of humour to lighten a sober subject.
Good luck in the voting booth.

This is a humorous entry for this contest. It reminds me of watching MASH and all the shows where they made jokes about the terrible food. Those were classics. Good luck in the contest!

Well that was a switch. Good imagination and to the point. How many we wonder have been the subject of the army MESS and picked up the beginning of their end?

In the snotty shore-bound rate I was in, I ate better in the galley than ever before, but we griped anyway...excellent sixty word dash...is that like an overweight fifty word dribble flash?

This is a clever write... Granddad has a sense of humour and obviously doesn't rate his culinary skills very highly. Your story deserves to do well in the contest.
