The first line sets up the horror, the second suggests its bloodthirsty nature and the third brings it to a terrifying conclusion...

I like this non-traditional approach to the prompt. I do think many of us harbor "nightmares" when we think of what could happen on that night, especially after midnight.

Another creepy poem, mystery writer. I like the "Midnight wakes early". I don't think I've ever heard of that phrase before. Solid ending as well.
