I'm giving you a 6 star because you made me homesick. Dad's favorite to be was sitting down at the River Thames, we'd feed the ducks and swans play on the old never-used bandstand whilst Dad smoked his Players read his Sunday Paper and once in a while would look up to make sure we had not fallen in the water. Often a ferry boat over to Hampton Court. The old man row boat owner was older than old, wiped his nose on his coat sleeve in spite of a handkerchief in his pocket and his boat was rickety and older than he was...happy memories. Loved your verse and your picture choice - it was a pleasure to read you this morning - Dinah

You've created a marvelous picture though words that appeal to the sense of sight and sound. Love the last line with its allusion to the psalm. One nit:it's Maker's hand-- no apostrophe needed in "its"

solid rhyming couplets
excellent personification of the river with verbs like dally and calm down
gorgeous detail of setting
it's maker - drop the apostrophe
nice alliteration in rivers reflected
and Creation's canvas
I like the proximate rhyme of behold/soul
a wonderfully spiritual tone in this poem of appreciation for God's Creation :-) Brooke

THE RIVER BECONS ONE TO COME DOWN AND WATCH THE WATER AND THE BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS IT HAS TO OFFER. ALONG THE WAY YOU FEEL REJUVINATED BY THE QUIETNESS

Rivers, something we take for granted. But, they are the lifeblood of our planet, each flowing to the sea. Your poem paints a picture of these beauties and reminds us of the blessings with have in creation.

Our God is so good, in that He provided all we need, including an abundant water supply. Glad you enjoyed this one seaglass.

A very good poem. It's not easy to grab and keep the reader's attention with such a short work, but you definitely did it with me. A great subject too with clear descriptions that I could picture very well.
