Not a truer word has been said, & I am overjoyed to learn of your victory. Despite the terseness of form & brevity, you have fared effectively in putting your message across (The more reason have I to commend you!)
Fraught in what Browning called "Robust Optimism", it allows one to reflect profoundly over the vitality of being virtuous and not merely utilitarian or materialistic, for nothing worldly lasts in the end (as I have emphasized in many of my writings to you).

Modernity might have hailed remarkable worldly advancements & amenities, but still -- A DISCONCERTING UNDERCURRENT OF EMPTINESS PERVADES THE ENTIRE SOCIETY. Too many people are anxious despite increasing material comforts & economic development, & few can ever realize why...
When civilization becomes Godless and mankind finds itself geared towards a rat-race for money and associative vices, life becomes infernal.

Hence, inspiring revelations such as these, are required now, more than ever. My wholehearted ovations to you on your victory. :)

Well hello there, my dear friend.
My heart sang with joy when I saw that you had come to visit the site. I thank you for your wonderful comments and the affirmation of quality of this short poem. (Remember when you and I won a contest within a week of each others victory? That was fun. ) The picture is Larry and his dad, who passed away on April 14, 2014. We have had a busy spring traveling again to the south western state of Arizona. He had a military funeral as he was a United States veteran.
I am happy to report that Larry's mother seems to be doing well. We will stay put here in Missouri until August when our 22 year old granddaughter, Juleigh, graduates from college. She is an RN (Registered Nurse). So we will be Arizona bound once again, but for a happy occasion this time.

Take care of yourself, and love to you and your family.
    Carolyn

Big smiles and hugs back to you. I am delighted you liked this one Ritchie. The picture is of Larry and his dad. They were very close. We had taken him and Larry's mom 'peach' picking about 2 years ago. He couldn't get around much after that.
Love and thanks for the congrats, it feels good to win, I shared first with others in this contest. I will share anytime,:-) Love, Carolyn

Often when we're young, we feel that we have all of the answers of the universe in the palms of our hands. We become estranged from our parents, either through our stubborn unwillingness to change, or by simply neglecting to keep in touch. Whatever the reasons, we do grow up (hopefully!), and eventually realize that the lessons our parents were trying so hard to teach us were true, spot-on! Reconciliation isn't always achievable, however, when it is, we should never wait until it's too late.

Well done, and best of luck to you in the contest.

It must have been your good wishes, I tied for first place, thanks so much.

Well, you're welcome, but I'd say it had more to do with the quality of your writing than my good wishes.

A true fact that cannot be denied when we are born again and live only onto His Name and do things that are pleasing to Him in His sight.
