It is a perfect match.

I am not much of a 'winer' :-) but that's what I hear. Thanks for this fine review and generous rating, Carolyn

Great pairing of artwork and poem, which is in excellent 5/7/5 syllable count
good internal rhyme in fine wine
Great use of the wine and cheese simile to make a humorous commentary on the human aging process :-) Brooke

I'm past most things UN-gentle, Carolyn, LOL, as I'm 63. Well, in age, but certainly not in mind.

So long as I can still enjoy 'cheese and fine wine' - oh, and a good laugh and imagination, then things could be worse.

Nicely put.

Best wishes, Ted

And I am 4 years past you, Teddy Bear. I love my life, retirement, writing, painting, teaching art, being a preachers wife and grandmother. One of our prerequisites is laughing every day. Have a super week-end, I enjoyed the picture of you and the little fellow. :-) Carolyn

Good complimentary photo. The syllable count is correct. Good rhyming with fine/wine. Clear message that is short and simple.

Ah yes, cheese and wine taste better with age. Love the expression "post fifty". Great use of assonance with fine wine; please and cheese. (both also internal rhyme.)

Apt observation with a remarkable simile, dear Carolyn -- one with which I find myself increasingly allied in recent days (now that the saddles of responsibility have befallen me!)
Despite my age, I can clearly foresee those times; I would cease to be what I am today; my thoughts, my instincts shall hardly be the same. And youth?! -- Ha! that will recede away like waves from the sea, ever eager to leave the shore in haste.
Sigh, I guess that's the irony of life: All that you care for, goes away in the end... I can feel that now, more than ever. Wonderful message, my friend.

There are so many changes that befall us as we pass through this earthly life. What type of work are you doing to assist with the family, and are you getting to keep up with your studies? Sagnik, my dear friend, keep in mind that you can educate yourself 'out' of many situations. Keep your chin up and your hands folded (figuratively of course ) Thank you for this wonderful review. Your wisdom and words to accompany them would make a wonderful short story series. Hold your mother close for me for a moment. Love to all of you, Carolyn

You know Carolyn, I work as a lawyer's clerk (something I have never contemplated doing in my worst nightmare), catering to all his ludicrous whims [on one instance, he made me type an 11-paged petition 6 times, lest he loses a copy!!]... Imagine!
I mean, what?! -- is that not paranoid?!! (& the queer man would still insist on using typewriters, at an era when they are deemed obsolete!)... sigh.. too bad.
reply by the author on 06-Mar-2014
I don't know what you are paid, but with regard to the 6 times, he dose'nt know who he is dealing with does he. You could probably type the remaining 5 from memory. Just smile, keep typing and say to your self, 'job security.' He is the archaic one, but I am relieved, however boring, you are in an office, a safe one hopefully. BTW, does he not have access to a copier? Love you, good night, Carolyn
reply by Sagnik Das on 08-Mar-2014
Indeed, Carolyn... I may be young & relatively inexperienced (professionally), but I do possess an intuition that impels me to consider such acts as being rather idiosyncratic. I mean, why reiterate the same thing over & over again, when one can easily dispense the task rather systematically at one try?
He may be daft (essentially), but why should I languish for his shortcomings? ? to this day, I haven't been able to realize.
And copier? ? ha! Despite the prevalence of 3 such establishments that operate them (copiers are often leased in our realm [& the British Commonwealth at large] in a way you would use telephone booths); you pay the keeper a charge in lieu of the service. But why should he avail them? what are we there for? we mean little to these soulless bureaucrats save a hoard of machinations, that they can coerce (& fire) away at will.
I have, over the course of days, come to abhor attorneys (& for that purpose, the very doctrine of capitalism itself).

Gentle aging please

Unfortunately I feel like a grated Reggiano Parmesan after this blasted winter. After falling on the ice at home, my shoulder has been barking up a storm. Going to the Orthopedic dr today. Yankees will have to wait just a while longer before I replace Mariano!

I wish for gentle aging! Great stuff, Carolyn. John

Yep, you had best let them know that you won't be available this season. I am sure they will probably be so upset that they will pay you a hugh retainer to keep you from signing anywhere else. Thank you John for this great review. :-) Carolyn
