Mikey, this poem contains several nuances of the tradition, meaning, and purpose for the holy holiday that we have become undeserving benefactors. Emmanuel-God with us. This is a fresh and meaningful way to say it. Nice. :0 GracieAnn

Had I six stars I would visit them upon you, as your Christmas poem is so deserving. I enjoyed reminiscing about Christmases past in memory, through your warm, inviting images. I especially liked your accompanying picture as it portrayed a time where Christmas was not an abundance of toys, electronics, and confused values. I love the reference to children pretending sleep and the floorboards creaking. The "s" alliteration makes one feel the silence creeping in the room where all is in readiness. In your poem, you describe the traditional Christmas we all love - bright lights, ribbons, wrapped packages. I think it very skillful of you to bring the reader back to the present, to your old green jacket full of wear..... You end your poem with a contentment that is rare in our modern day. You languish in the house bright with sounds of cheer, where hearts are near and dear. Your ending celebrates the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ. Your shouts of Christmas, Christmas are shouts of joy that the special day of celebration has arrived, and you are sharing it with your loved ones. Well done. Your poem gave me such enjoyment.

Good complimentary photo. Good use of the aabb rhyme scheme. Good end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with light/night. Good rhythm. Good flow. Good consistency with the eight syllable count in each line. Good thought provoking message that holds my attention from start to finish.

This is truly lovely. I love the message and they rhyme is spot on. Very nice work with this one. I would love to hear this with music. One of these days you are going to have to let us hear you sing one of your songs.

Hmm. I downloaded some music into my computer but, it isn't very good. Maybe I will figure out how to add it to something. Glad you liked this. If the church sings it I will try and record it. mikey

House full of cheer, taking time to praise the Christ Child. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

A lovely poem in five good stanzas in rhyming couplets. The third line of your second stanza only has seven syllables but the rest has the eight throughout - easy to remedy (stick 'that' after eyes perhaps?) The rest of your poem is lovely especially your penultimate stanza. Regards Dorothy

Very nicely done, brother. You captured both the human and Divine side of Christmas in a most charming way. A sweet union for sure...

Glad you liked this. My wife said "Why don't you write something good like a Christmas carol". hahaha. Is that how a muse is supposed to inspire? mikey

Hey Michael, this is a great commentary on the important things in life. It had a nice, flowing rhythm which does read like a song. Hugs, Lou
