I got caught up in your creative alliteration, and missed that Grace used to be Greta. During my second read, I paid more attention to the story. Wow! This is a remarkable modern day ugly duckling story after a car accident. Great job. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you so much. It was something I wrote two months ago at 150w, and was never happy with. I chopped it down some, and then it was just right. Karen

Great job Karen! I truly enjoyed reading this story and it is cool how everything starts with a G. The photo is awesome and goes good with the story as well. Keep up the good work!

It sounds like they wouldn't notice if she even had hands. Can you imagine having people stare at you everywhere you went? Maybe you can but I sure can't. Great alliteration. Gretchen

This contest entry introduced me to a new word, sleight. I had to look it up. I always look forward to increasing my vocabulary. Thank you for that and for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading and the alliteration. Good luck with the contest.

I love finding new or forgotten words too. Flibbertigibit is a good one. It means a whimsical person. One who is often neither here nor there. I have to use it somewhere! Thanks for the read. Karen

Hello Karen,
this was a rather entertaining story. So is she just a sleight of hand person or is she someone who can push the sale of Trojan's, or both? It would possibly be safer for her to become a model, though there wouldn't be much excitement or adventure in that I don't suppose. Well done gal. Good luck in the contest.
Have a blessed day.
Tom

Some had to have "Trojans " explained to them. This was fun to do. Thanks for the read. Karen

I wish that people practiced making love and quit just having sex. :-)

    Hello Karen,
well, that's a novel idea. Unfortunately, the values that once prevented a lot of promiscuous sex have eroded, and apparently its become something that is expected from anyone who dates. All the benefits of marriage without any of the responsibilities.
I see you've dropped your last name. If I address an envelope to you, do I use a different last name?
reply by the author on 31-Jan-2025
I have not yet obtained my divorce so my name legally is the same. But everywhere it does not have to be legal, I now use Mz. Karen Cherry. More distancing. :-)

Is that Karen Cherry...or maybe Cheery (our Miss Sunshine). It probably feels good to drop some of his baggage... You go, girl!

And Grace left some baggage behind, too. She changed her name, her face, and her profession... Get those rich guys gazing into her emerald green eyes while she picks their pockets. Nice twist.
Smiles, Carol

Lol, you have excelled here, Karen. So, if I go and smash my whole body up, will they redesign it the way I want it to look? Like, nothing going south anymore, but upright and perky!? LOL I can't imagine what they would be looking for if not her hands, slipping unnoticed inside their pockets! All those Gs, a fabulous lot of aliteration that didn't in the slightest way seem forced. Well done, my friend, and good luck in the contest. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

Well, you should be so lucky, they would take one look at me and tell me to go home. They haven't got a whole year to spend on one patient!! 😂🤣

Karen,

Good morning my friend. I am very confused by this story. You might need to dumb it down for me. It is well organized and seems to flow nicely for beginning to end.

Greta changed her name to Grace after the surgery. She looked ordinary before, now look at her picture. And, because she looks so beautiful the guys look at her face and not her hands. Thanks for the read. Karen

So, Grace got into a car accident and had plastic surgery to change the way she looked and she chose green eyes to go along with becoming a gorgeous redhead. It helped her bring in the compliments as well as the money because she is a magician who uses sleight of hand to win the money from unsuspecting men who are amazed at her drop-dead gorgeous looks. A well-written flash fiction with a twist at the end.
Good work.
Jesse

I like this tribute, Karen.
I thought at first you were in full alliteration mode. It sure seemed it.
But, that's a hard ask to keep up for a one hundred words flash.
You have, however, created a remarkable flash bringing this wonderful actress to the fore.
