I can see why this story won the contest. The humor was spot on and well done.

Thank you so much Marilyn, I am glad you had a laugh as well:)

I have no sixes. Sorry.
Very well done. Superbly written.
And I enjoyed the story, too. The freezing temperature midnight trek to the river sounded dumb enough to be true.
At least you will have no guilty conscience for breaking resolutions.
Best wishes.

Hi Wayne, thank you so much for the imaginary six, the best reward for me is that you took a chance in something that I wrote, thank you.

Iza,
Great way to bring in the new year. However I think I would have forgone that frozen walk. You'll kick Ms. Lazy out eventually.
Congrats on your first place win.

I actually did it, because I wanted to execute that ritual:)

I can see why you won in this contest! It was a very amusing, entertaining and very relatable tale. I'm realty, I believe more people welcomed the New Year this way - but won't admit it. Plaid pajamas and furry slippers as opposed to sequined gown and champagne.

Well if I was not sick probably I was going to wear one of those shinny things.

I laughed all the way through this piece. At my house Mr. and Mrs. Lazy watched TV as the new year came in. I already had New Year text messages prepared for family and friends. At midnight, I pushed all the buttons and went to bed.
I like the idea of tossing worries into the river, or somewhere. And I enjoyed your humorous writing style. You are sure to win the contest.

A lovely humorous touch pervades this Short Story 2024-2025 for the contest with some very effective use of dialogue throughout as it invites the reader to share the 'festivities.' Great visual to illustrate. Has my vote.

Haha! A fun and humorous write to which I could relate straightaway. New year's resolutions are such a pointless exercise. Boring people telling you how much more boring they're going to be for a few days before completely giving up, having barely started. Your lovely story made me smile all the way through. I particularly liked your "party animal" celebrations. Well done and good luck! Debbie

I enjoyed this, I like Maxine. Yours is the best so far. My new years resolution was to forgive people that have done me wrong. I unmuted the big stinker on here and told her I forgived her. She muted me and drug some of her Friends? with her. It is nice and quiet. Karen :-)

This is a very cute and well written contest entry about how you spent your New Years. You used very good descriptive words and very cute imagery from the artwork you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

LOL!! Sounds comparable to mine, although I skipped the Arctic outing and ritualized paper disposal... and I absolutely love the chamomile in a glass! ;) Thanx for sharing those grins and best of luck! ;)
