Well, I was waiting for the eventual team-up. I would advise changing the accompanying picture. It gives that part away. That also, partially explains why Grayson never simply killed Alex, the story needed him alive.
But, there are issues.
1) If Alex was bait, and Grayson knew. Why not just kill Alex then vanish? He had plenty of opportunities.
2) how did team of men, easily find them (together)?
3) If the team was there to kill them (tie up loose ends), why bother speaking to them or asking Alex to give up, after you've told him, you were going to kill him? (Yes, I get that was for the readers) but... in-universe, not a wise thing for trained killers to do.

I really enjoyed your story! The tension between Alex and Grayson kept me hooked from start to finish. The twist with Grayson's sniper shot was a great surprise!
