Well, I have to say by the time I got to the end I could taste the metallic taste of blood in my mouth.
I don't know how police cope with all the violence and gore they often have to deal with.
In my country murders are on the rise between young couples.
At the moment a man is on trial for having stabbed his girlfriend age 22, more than 70 times. She had ended the relationship and he wanted her to come back..she agreed to see him one last ( fatal) time.
After the crime, he escaped to Germany but was traced down after 10 days.

This is a good entry for the Everyday Horror contest. Your have some very powerful descriptions and the set up for a good story. I would have enjoyed having some kind of a plot line in addition to your scene. Good luck with it in the contest.

What a great horror story. You got your point across in just a short story. It's horror for sure. Your description of the bloody scene gives the readers a sense of being in the scene with the police officers. You leave your readers wanting more, but not totally hanging on the edge. It's pretty obvious the man has been murdered, but the question is by who. You could keep writing this story and you would have a stellar work.

I assume that this short flash fiction is a lead in to a much longer story? As I read this piece, I could see a serial killer as he was leading into a much longer killing spree. Good lead in.
