A book that ends with that sentence sounds intriguing. How wildly did you change the concept of the original book as you wove from it a really good flash fiction, filled with emotion and suspense. I applaud you

Tim, thanks for your great review. I would say about a 180 degree shift from the book. That concentrated on the affair of the husband and a letter he secretly penned. Glad you enjoyed my story. I am off to New Zealand for a couple of weeks.I might get some Kiwi inspiration. Take care.

Very well done. The author Moriarty writes a number of books about abuse, I happened to read this one. You write the woman's emotions and I can identify with terror and relief. It felt authentic. Esther

I was rushing to the train right along with your woman. The story is well-written, and the tension remains high throughout. When her arm was grabbed at the station, I was sure she had been caught. It is a nice twist in the story that it's her sister. There is only one phrase I didn't care for. The punch became the determining point. The word "determining" took me momentarily out of the story. That could be just me, but it is worth reviewing. gayla

Hi, You have crafted a powerful portrayal of the woman escaping from an abusive relationship. You successfully drew me in from the first paragraph. The piece is nicely written, and the tension builds in the middle story, but I found the conclusion a little underwhelming. - Terry

Excellent description of the violent and controlling husband and the build up of tension as she put her escape plan into practice was also well done. The tension of the twist at the end made it a gripping story.
Best wishes for your entry.

The story moves steadily from her escape, back through the reasons for it, and right up to the dramatic suspected encounter with her soon-to-be ex. Fortunately, the happy ending appears instead. Nice.

This is a great story, if not a sad one. I hope this didn't happen to you. You know unfortunately, domestic abuse starts out slowly and by the time you realize it's happening it's too late. The abuser isolates you and then you have nowhere to turn.

Great job.

Cecilia

Aww Tremendous! And her sister too! You've selected a strong sentence to start your flash story and this hooks the reader immediately. After this, I found your prose was well structured to set the scene of why she was leaving and further detail the journey, creating a tension that this attempt to escape was going to be foiled, either by the abuser or by missing the train. Instead, we had a very satisfying and unexpected ending. Well done and good luck! Debbie
