What a wonderful idea capturing this mini biography in this monotetra verse form. The repeated lines give great musical emphasis and you give added cohesion with your pleasing monorhymes. Every stanza is a little gem but I think my favourite is #8. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Ciao mystery poet, you now have 6 votes.

I love Vincent's paintings and I have seen several films based on his life the most recent : Loving Vincent. 2017

The film is visually stunning. The producers hired a hundred or so painters to reproduce many of Vincent's paintings, which were then animated with a new filming technique.

The parts in colour are Vincent's paintings and the parts in black and white are parts invented to advance the narrative.

You wrote a beautiful poem, touching on the main stages of his life.

I always felt sorry that he only sold one painting when now his art is worth millions.

If I had to describe Vincent in one word it would be : fragility. Great art comes from suffering.

His art has a strong emotional impact on people.

PS; I think a self-portrait in paint would have been nicer.

This is an epic poem done in monotetra which is a difficult thing to do finding all those rhymes. You managed to tell a story here. Bravo poet and best wishes in the contest!

Wow! I am impressed how beautifully you summarized Van Gogh's life and career in this very challenging format--the Monotetra. I especially like how you use repetition in the final line of each stanza. Also, I learned a lot about Van Gogh I did not know before. Well done! Rod

You've written such a thoughtful poem about Van Gogh's life. I like how you show the grim scenes he painted early on to the swirling colors of his later works. I felt like I was watching his transformation in real time. I thought you did a great job honoring his spirit and the heartbreak of his genius. Truly beautiful work!
