Buying Elections

Long ago in this forum we had a few people who liked to brag (without sufficient evidence it must be said) that the American political system was the best in the world. No amount of logical argument could convince them otherwise, especially when presented by ignorant foreigners.

Well here is the ultimate proof that the American system is 'proper stuffed up.'

The richest man in the world managed to get the worst president ever re-elected.

Even if you disagree with that you have to agree that the ability of an ultra-wealthy person to have undue influence on a particular vote is not fair. Here we have Musk again (in partnership it seems with Trump again) trying to buy a Supreme Court place in Wisconsin.

Corruption much?

RE: Buying Elections

That's been all over the news, Steve, and I believe every word. musk gave the trump campaign millions of dollars, and look what he got for that money.

The wealthy individuals, corporations, and business people, are buying seats at the table, and for that money they expect to have their way.

It's working too...I believe it was musk, that got trump to offer the special immigrant status to the white South African farmers...he said their government wasn't treating them right.

Odd isn't it that trump doesn't see the need for something like that for the farmers that are worried about their needs right here.

The courts are trying to intervene, but trump's fighting back hard...He actually feels he's above
law...and the republicans are right behind him.

I have never seen anything like what's going on here, in the U. S. before, yes there have been civil rights troubles, and yes hard times working toward some corrections, but this seems like a complete dismantling of the government, as was written in the Project 2025 statement.

It might sound terrible for an American to say, but I don't blame Canada one bit for their reactions to trump's tariffs...I have friends in Montreal that say they will never visit me again...they came often too...

Just Some Thoughts
