Let's try Illegal Immigration again.
One could dislike or hate the US President for many or any thing. But, one reason he was elected was America's Illegal Immigration crisis.
How is he doing dealing with and solving that issue so far?

In the meantime, here's a win. I agree with you that Trump has reduced the number of illegal border crossings. I disagree with his methods. Fear, intimidation and threats are seldom the best way to get people to do what you want, but perhaps you think the end justifies the means.
In return, perhaps you can agree with me that last year a bi-partisan group worked for weeks if not months hammering out a border bill that offered Republicans nearly everything that they had been screaming for for years. And then Trump killed that bill, presumably because he didn't want to weaken his electoral advantage on border policy.
Clearly his desire for political wins outweighed any genuine desire to improve what was happening at the border.

For the love of... Steve, I left that thread because the topic I tried to speak on was discarded for more "I hate Trump" rants. I just wanted to speak on illegal immigration.
As for Mrs. Majors, why should I apologize for my words. She doesn't. You don't. CD don't. So, please, what makes her worthy when none of us are?
As for a new bill. None is or ever was needed. The President, as evidence since January 20th already has the authority to what is needed.
People commit murder, despite laws against it. People steal despite laws against it. People rob despite laws against it.
We don't need new laws about illegal border crossing. We simply need to enforce the laws we have. People who thought we would not enforce the current laws, illegally came. They didn't care about the old law, so why would they care about any new laws?
Enforcement makes laws work. It's that simple. They same is true of your nation.

The issue with immigration is not just an American one. It covers many nations and the USA aren't the only ones saying no. We can debate the right, wrong, or morality of it. But... the legality of it is pretty clear.

I don't believe the legality of our immigration laws, are as clear as some believe...otherwise there wouldn't be the kind of turmoil that is happening right here in this country...but that's just my opinion, since there are no immigration lawyers here to make the laws clear...or answer questions...but if there are I'd like to hear them.
No one wants those that have criminal backgrounds, and that's understandable, but some that are being deported are here because they were asked to come to this country because of specific needs for workers.
I believe that's part of why there seems to be some confusion as to who should stay and who should be deported.
Also trump was perfectly willing to send immigrants back to a countries they had not come from, until some said they would not accept them..
I do have sympathy for the children, regardless of what some others may think is alright.
Where are they going to send the children that are still here in camps.
Some of those children's parents have been deported, long ago, what is going to be done with those children...
I also realize that there are those that couldn't care less about them, but I do care about any child, no matter where they came from and how they got here...
No, the laws when it comes to immigration are not as clear as they should be, but that's just my opinion, and until a immigration lawyer says otherwise, I'll stick with that opinion.
One thing I have heard that has been needed for a long time, was that anyone hiring an undocumented immigrant was going to be fined for doing so, and that's a good thing.
Those people using undocumented immigrants and paying them less, for the work they do, need to be caught and punished...for more than one reason.
And I know for sure, that many of those that do the lawn work out here on Long Island are not documented immigrants...
how do I know that, because I ask, you see, I don't want to be part of the problem...
The same thing applies to the nail salons, there was a scandal a while back, about how those workers were being mistreated...so I stopped going to any of them...people can help, by not being part of the problem, however small that part my be.

Steve, I'd never expect an apology from Lancellot, he's not the type, but I do sincerely appreciate that you had the decency to speak up on my behalf.
Old age has taught me a lot, never expect what you believe just might not be in a bottle of water, in that way, you won't be disappointed when the bottle of water is actually empty...makes sense to me anyway!

You have a knack for stating the obvious. Of course it wasn't that you needed more laws. As far as I know there were no new laws in the bill. What WAS in the bill was funding for extra enforcement of existing laws - lots of funding for lots of enforcement. I believe it included provisions for more barriers. Like Trump's wall. I'm sure you wouldn't have been against that!
More border patrol agents, more powers to summarily remove illegal aliens, more judicial officers to process asylum claims and much more. Why wouldn't Trump have wanted that.
Why should you apologise to Mrs Major. Perhaps revisit the attack you made on her, for no particular reason that I can see apart from the fact that she expressed support for Craig and me...

Where is the racism, where is the BS? As she explains she is fully aware of his racist characteristics from when he was a landlord in NY refusing to let apartments to African Americans. I could add that he also called for the execution of the Central Park Five and took out full page ads in the press arguing for that.

It seems to me that perhaps Mrs M has a better grasp of the facts than you do and that the only hate flowing is coming from you.
An elderly lady venturing into the Forum for the first time in many months and you take it upon yourself to accuse her of racism, lying and hate, even while you are spewing your own hate. It's a good thing she hasn't lived to her ripe old age without developing a thick skin and a toughness to defend herself.

For the record, I don't care if someone here is a lady, a black lady, or elderly. That shouldn't matter, all are equal to me. If it was a back-and-forth between me and CD, would you ask me to apologize? Be honest.
And for the record. I don't what "she" is or isn't, no more than I know what you are. It doesn't matter. I don't care how people look or their skin color. As far as I'm concerned, no one (other than my boy) looks like me.
Now, she doesn't expect an apology from, as I do not expect one from her. So, let it go.

Lance, I can let it go but I won't forget it. As far as I am concerned you should be ashamed of your behaviour and if you had any decency more ashamed because of who it was directed at:

- an elder
- a new arrival in the forum who has never directed any flak in your direction
As far as i am aware no one here has called you a racist or a liar or insulted you directly in any way. We might call your ideas crazy and your seeming devotion to a leader who has never earned it is simply incomprehensible.

What you are expecting just isn't possible, I can tell that Lancellot isn't able to see anything wrong with what he posted...he never does, however, I'm sure he feels better now that he has had the chance to follow his leader's direction, and insult when he doesn't agree...I found his language comparable to trump's way of speaking...
There is such a thing as the truth, and if that truth doesn't follow one's mindset, they will never see it.
trump demanded that the legislation that was intended to aid in the fight to gain better control of the immigration problem, not be passed, simply because he didn't want any progress to be made...while Biden was still in office.
Yet his supporters say he was working toward getting better control of the border's immigration problems...
he has no real interest in anything that doesn't bring him glorification from his supporters, that's been clear to me, and many others...
What I said about him and his racist mindset isn't new, you can go back in his history in New York, and read all about it...Lancellot can't erase history just because he wants to shut me up...
I don't know why he feels so strongly about trump, but I have a good idea why he does.
In a way I feel sorry for him, no one is perfect, and because he sees value in what trump is doing, and has done, doesn't make it so...
For me, trump has never done anything that even seems like he's concerned about "people that look like me"...it seems Lancellot doesn't like that saying...but its exactly how I feel about his man trump.

I don't have one ounce of respect for trump, None!

No, I don't vote, and yes its because of My own Religious beliefs.
However, It was Lancellot that used God's name in an insulting and ignorant way, that showed me just what kind of person he really is...
I make that statement, so that the readers here would understand that I wasn't posting my thoughts to support any political point of view.
Not one made a comment about my statement, not one, obviously they understood what I meant.
Except Lancellot...who choose to make his ignorant and unnecessary comment about God and Prayer...actually making a fool of himself...how very sad.
