5-7-5 But
Can someone explain the third sentence in this listing to me? What is the "But" doing there?
For this contest you are to write a short poem. It should only have three lines. But the structure is that of a Haiku. The first line has 5 syllables. The second line has 7 syllables. The third line has 5 syllables again.

RE: 5-7-5 But
It's just bad writing. Ignore the butts. I keep my head down and keep walking, no matter how gorgeous and tempting they are.
If you feel like a wink and a nod though, you could write a 575 making fun of the contest rules.

But.. but... it's like saying, It is a sentence. But it has a full stop. Or- It is the colour of grass. But it is green.

I saw that plump butt,
perfectly round and juicy.
But then she broke wind.
(Correct demonstrated use of the word in a 575)

It essentially means write a 5-7-5 haiku. A 5-7-5 poem has no limitation other than the syllables. Haiku usually has two grammatically connected lines of imagery relating to nature, and a reflective or expanding thought called a satori line. The satori can be the first or the third line.
But this says to write about anything. Have fun.
