This made me laugh and cry.
<< Thread Modifed August 12 at 6:52PM >>
This man is a three star General (Lt. General), So sad. So amazingly sad. And this America, where we are all "Supposed" to be equal under the law, and by law and Constitution cannot be discriminated against (without compelling reason). Gotta love the fine print.
RE: This made me laugh and cry.
Lt. Gen Clark obviously was ordered to present something to Congress from someone higher up, most likely directly from the Biden administration. The context is missing but it definitely does not make that higher-up look good.

RE: This made me laugh and cry.
True. And because he is a three-star general, the number of people who could order him is pretty small.
RE: This made me laugh and cry.
Can't we all just get along?
The only problem I really have with this is if whatever fellowship/association/club these demigender/agender folk is funded/sponsored by general/public taxpayer money.
If some private person/group wants to donate/set up a scholarship for demigender and/or agender folk, then they can give as much as they like--it's their money.
But if general/public taxpayer money is allocated to special persons/groups mainly/solely on the basis of their sex/gender, then I have an issue with that.
However, if folk want to identify themselves as half alien/part god/cyborg or whatever, and contribute/donate monies amongst themselves, then they can have at it--it's a free world.
As long as they're not demanding anything--money, approval, favors--from the general public.
I believe in live and let live. Do you.

RE: This made me laugh and cry.
My fault, Go. I should have explained better.
This was a Congressional hearing, with a Lt. General from the Air Force. They were discussing an Air Force program. So, by definition all of it is Government paid for and sponsored, which is how and why Congress has oversight.
Now that you know it wasn't a private thing. How do you feel?
RE: This made me laugh and cry.
I'll need more info on this Air Force sponsored fellowship/scholarship for demigenger/agender folk.
Why does the military feel the need for such a program?
How are funds allocated to/used by it?
Are there other similar programs/fundings for other minorities?
On the face of it, though, I don't like it--since/i it's indeed publicly funded.
We have separation of church and state.
Do we now need separation of state and gender/sex?
RE: This made me laugh and cry.
It is risky/difficult to have an opinion without context but I'll give it a try. Approximately 72% of the full-time undergraduate population at the United States Air Force Academy are cisgender males. The remaining 28% are women.
Normally a cisgender male or female, who identifies with the gender they were assigned at birth, can apply for a demigender fellowship because of the all encompassing definition. But this particular fellowship appears to disqualify cisgender males only, (I say 'appears to' because I haven't found the document yet). Cisgender females however can apply, which I am guessing is due to the already high percentage of students that are cisgender males. And I would imagine that like affirmative action, applicants are expected to meet the qualifications required of the fellowship the same as anyone else.
There is a bit to learn about the gender designations but the Air Force Academy Superintendent really fell down on the job by not taking the eight hours it would take to learn them. If he doesn't approve of gender designations then that's a different story.
IMO the whole thing has gone overboard as back in the olden day, girls who enjoyed so-called male activities, were called tomboys, now they're called demigirls and have a bunch of pronouns attached to their name. And boys who liked playing with dolls back then were called, (a term that Archie Bunker mainstreamed), "fags" even if they weren't homosexual.
Gasp! The world just got a whole lot more complicated.
