You went to the shelter, with a pet in mind.
Not really sure of what you would find.
Somehow you knew which one was best.
Didn't feel the need to look at the rest.
You gathered him up to go home with you.
For the rest of his life, he was loyal and true.
As a puppy he was full of a lot of energy.
With a look that said, come play with me.
As the years past it would never fail.
He'd greet you at the door wagging his tail.
Yes __________ your beautiful furry son,
Happy by your side when the day was done.
The day came, He went to heaven at last.
Leaving you with memories of the past.
It hurts when one we love has to part.
But in time. God mends a broken heart.
