HOW PATIENT IS THE SOUL BENEATH
THIS SHEATH OF PROTECTION AND WARMTH.
IT WILL TAKE GREAT COURAGE TO EMERGE
FROM THE COMFORT OF THIS CHRYSALIS.
I watched when first she stole away
and chose to make her change.
The branch grew heavy from her dwelling there.
Did she decide that life was more
and dreamed of what could be?
Her heart knew that her life held something rare.
HOW TIMELY IS THE URGENT NEED
TO CHANGE WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE.
AND DIFFICULT IT IS TO PLAN THE JOURNEY.
Her first steps taken to be free;
her shelter peels away.
The armor pulls apart and soon it falls.
Now comes the time of birth this day;
she moves to face the sun.
She tries her wings of gold as new life calls.
BUT ALWAYS, YES, THE HARDEST PART;
WHERE WILL THIS NEW LIFE LEAD?
NOW CHANGE HAS COME, TOMORROW CALLS
THE VICTOR NOW TO ANSWER.

Write a poem using the topic: butterfly.
Your poem can be in any style. You can write about an actual butterfly or compare someone to a butterfly. Or you may come up with a way to use butterfly as your theme in a way no one has thought of before. Any length, any format. Artwork, notes and whatever you wish to use in your display is fine. That's it. Simple, one rule: a poem that incorporates, "Butterfly" somehow. |
