My grandchild's like a butterfly,
a flitting vapour floating by,
or dragonflies that zip then zap,
like meerkat heads that never nap.
A handsome lad whose smile brings light,
graceful movements provoking sight-
of dancing jewels in raindrops' flight,
as water shines on a moonlit night.
His spirit pure as an angel's sigh,
or the soul-like pleas of a baby's cry.

Writing Prompt |
Write a poem using the topic: butterfly.
Your poem can be in any style. You can write about an actual butterfly or compare someone to a butterfly. Or you may come up with a way to use butterfly as your theme in a way no one has thought of before. Any length, any format. Artwork, notes and whatever you wish to use in your display is fine. That's it. Simple, one rule: a poem that incorporates, "Butterfly" somehow. |
Author Notes
The photo is my daughter and my grandson.
My grandson is a pure minded boy, who is beautifully energetic, who cries when the news plays on TV, the horror of it causes us to turn it off. This poem is dedicated to, and personifies him. His mother has always been like her son, tender hearted.
