Off We Go To School

Timmy and Tommy Mouse raced down the stair,
After washing and dressing and brushing their hair.
They had eaten their breakfast of porridge and toast
Then went to the cupboard to get out their coats.
Their satchels were ready, their lunch boxes full,
Today was their first day of going to school.
The school bus came noisily up to the door
And the driver yelled out, 'I've room for two more.
You'd better come quickly, I've no time to wait,
I'm always on time, I never run late.'
Mummy Mouse waved as the bus drove away
And wondered just what she could do with her day.
Cyril the Squirrel and Millie the Mole
Were sat at the back with Vicky the Vole.
Millie called out 'Over here! Come and meet
Reggie the Rat, he's saved you a seat.'
By the time the school bus had arrived at the school,
Reggie the Rat had made friends with them all.
Miss Freda the Frog, the teacher, was there
Inside the classroom, sat on her chair.
She looked up and smiled as the children came in,
And said, 'Please sit down, and then we'll begin
First of all children, we'll all say our names,
I'll tell you mine, then you'll do the same.'
The day went quickly with so much to do,
Drawing a picture then painting it too.
'I want to take mine home, to give to our Mum'
Whispered Tommy to Timmy, when his picture was done.
'Well, let's ask Miss Freda the Frog if we could.'
And Miss Freda replied, 'I think everyone should.'
The six friends went home at the end of the day,
And promised each other they'd come out to play.
They all agreed on where they would meet,
But first they would change and have something to eat.
Then, Tommy and Timmy raced into the house
Waving their pictures to give Mummy Mouse.
