Here's what I heard by Karen Cherry Threadgill
Dialogue Only Writing Contest contest entry

Did you hear the rumor about Tom selling off FanStory to Ryan Reynolds?

He sure seems to be buying up a lot of stuff these days.

Why do you think Tom is selling?

Well, I heard that he was getting a lot of complaints lately about the unfairness of the contests.

I thought it might be about people complaining about the point system and how some people without real talent simply buy their way to the top.

He doesn't need to sell; just institute a policy you can not post without reviewing. For example, each post and contest entry cost five reviews, and five dollars.

How about, when you get read without buying any points you yourself get  10 points for each one read. That makes sense to me.

He could also double the membership fee, keep the secret review board,  but change people every month. Five on the board. The computer selects five current writers, and they get that month free. He could make every contest have a one, two, and three-place winner. But only one of each. The winner-take-all concept is too adversarial.

Don't forget that blind reading is the way to go on all of the contests.  But, after the contest, which should run no longer than 30 days, is over, the poems and stories go to the mail boxes automatically. We write to be read.

Did you see that T-shirt he is advertising? I might buy one; it is hysterical.

Let's Eat Children.

Let's Eat, Children.

Punctuation Saves Lives.

He could make a mint selling it in college bookstores.

Do you really think Tom will sell?

Nope.

Me either.
