Oh, gather around, my friends, lend me your ear,
For I’ve tales of a drama that is starting to appear
Across the pond, in a land bold and brash,
The Yanks had their election—a bit of a mishmash
With Trump in the ring, a whirlwind of grandiosity
With no shortage of garrulity and verbosity
In one corner is the Donald, hair all aflame
In the other is Kamala who's just started the game
"Oh The Donald is the one for me" some say with glee
While others will say "He talks cobblers, let's wait and see
"Vote for me" they both holler and bellow
"It is either me," says Kamala "or that rusty looking fellow"
The votes have been counted and the result is now in
The Donald is the victor and Kamala consigned to the bin
From copious rallies to frantic tweets late at night
Will the future be dismal or 'orange' bright?
The wall will be finished, the border now tight
The world will tremble in the dark of the night
Deals will be brokered, some treaties sworn
A new order will soon be born
The Mexicans, they'll be soon on their way
The Muslims banished, come what may
The Chinese trade will be undone
A new America under the Trumpton sun
The Democrats blubber, the Republicans celebrate
The world holds its breath and can only wait
From outrageous comments to his haystack hair
To make a success he just needs to grow a pair
The economy will recover, or so he will claim
With tax cuts and dark deals it's a high risk game
But what of the workers, the folks in the street?
Will they be looked after or will life be bittersweet
Trade wars are brewing, with tariffs in tow
"America comes first" is The Donald's crow
Yet allies may whinge and foes take a stance
As the globe spins around in a geopolitical dance
Climate change beckons but will The Donald take heed
But in all fairness we all plant the seed
Are we now facing a scorched earth policy
The next president most surely holds the key
So here is America, at the dawn of the day
With Trump soon in the White House come what may
So take your seat let's race through the years
You have The Donald for the next four years!
