It started in our neighborhood, Madrid was still pristine
And you were 18 when we met, and I was just 13
At "Our Lady of Mercy" as we both were there to teach
And at that time we knew that our ages were out of reach
You always were a gentleman, you'd walk us home each night
An elderly woman and me, you kept from any fright
While we were both teaching about our Father up above
Surprisingly we both would find ourselves falling in love
At 25 and 20 was when we had our first date
It wasn't long before I knew that you were worth the wait
We married on November 4th, 35 years ago
What would I do without your love, I surely do not know
Our three amazing children, Marcos, Iris and Pablo
And Marcos married Mari Carmen; she's so beautiful
They're great parents, and they'd do anything for Annie's sake
We love our princess granddaughter, the icing on the cake
And Iris, and her partner, Adri, are so happy too
But Pablo is still young, and he will do what young men do
Now I am lector in the church and you are in the choir
And it's still like the good ole days, when our hearts were on fire
You have always supported me, you have through thick and thin
So after all these years I know where your heart's always been
And though we both are opposites, dif'rent as night and day
