Painting Fun by LisaMay
Children's Rhyming Poem writing prompt entry

Just dab in your brush to the colours so bright
and you'll make your picture a beautiful sight.
With a sweep of bright blue, the sky it can be.
Turn the page upside down, and now it's the sea!

Okay, let's add details... will you paint a ship?
A white ocean liner away on a trip.
And next paint an island with coconut trees;
their green fronds can sway in the tropical breeze.

Are you in the picture? Will you paint yourself?
Over there in the corner, you look like an elf.
Your big hat is yellow, your boots are bright red.
Gee whiz... the paint spilled, now they're purple instead.

There's paint on the table, and also the floor.
Gosh, look! There are splatters up high on the door,
and plenty of paint is squished there on your nose!
Thank goodness the sheet is protecting your clothes.

Just mix in more paint and watch each colour run.
It's now rather messy, but we're having fun!
You'll need some more practice to draw cool designs,
but soon you'll be skilful to paint clearer lines.
