A Bar of Soap by Terry Broxson True Story Flash contest entry |
Warning: The author has noted that this contains the highest level of language. In 1960, when I was fourteen, I spent a week with my Grandmother Minnie. We called her Granny. I wanted to know about Dad. "Granny, what was my father like when he was fourteen?" "We lived on a farm; he was a hard-working smart kid." "Did he ever get into trouble?" "All kids get into trouble." "Not me, Granny!" "I remember one time he let out the longest string of cuss words I ever heard! "I grabbed his shirt collar, dragged him to the sink and washed out his mouth with soap!" "Holy shit! Granny, you did that to Dad?"
