Baby's First Christmas Ornaments

by Y. M. Roger

Four ornaments of special note
Hold naught in common save their theme.
Each a foundation to a dream:
A life well-lived, propelled by hope…

Four names, four years, frail inks denote
Our fam’ly’s growth in heart and scheme
Four ornaments of special note
Hold naught in common save their theme.

Though dwarfed now by the growing scope
Of trimmings for a tree agleam,
Their meanings for our fam’ly deem
Spots of honor we’ll e’er devote…
Four ornaments of special note.
