A chapter in the book The Heart of Poetry

Rose so fair

by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens

Tear drop slid down Rose's chin
and watered roots so fine
God's care of His creation
Astounds the finite mind.

How often times we fail to see
the broader spectrum of His care
He loves us each and everyone
A Rose he gives for us to share

Fair flowers are the breath of spring
unveiled in blooms not shy
so what if thorns bedeck her stems
it's not for us to question why

God made the Rose a queenly sort
it's beauty well defined
other flowers cannot compare
in grace to Rose sublime

When you see the dew-drop slide
down Rose's cheek so fair
it may be just a tear you see
next to the smile she'll wear
